I'm a born Muslim.
I really respect those who revert to Islam from other religion, they are the one who really knows the true beauty of Islam.
Whereas us who is born Islam, we usually forget our duty to study more bout Islam, even though God has advised us to seek why we are Muslim in the first place.
So, if they do sound preachy, it is maybe bcos they are really excited to see the truth. If it is that, Im happy for n with them.

Generally anyone who converts to any faith (or lack there of) will sound preachy. They wouldn't have converted unless they felt strongly about the religon, and are probably enthusiastic to "share" this "enthusiasm" with the world. Which is commendable, but also very annoying, especially for people already happy with their faith.

When one embraces a new religion it is typically with gusto and that enthusiasm could be interpreted as 'being preachy.'
However, this being said they are surely no more preachy than a lot of mainstream Christians I am acquainted with.

Most converts of any type tend to sound preachy. Recent converts tend to be the worst zealots. It's as if they are trying to suddenly justify their beliefs to everybody else.

Theyve had an epiphany!
Theyve found something that answered their questions and gave meaning to their lives!
Like a child that discovers a new thing, theyll run here and there in that bliss and try to share their knowledge with others.
Rarely noticing that those who have not experienced what they have experienced, will show any sympathy, let alone understanding.

i think it depends on the person... i've met Muslims who reverted from Christianity that were very laid back and seemed at peace to me.... but i've also met former Chrisitan reverts to the contrary.
i think some ppl like to assume that who you are as a Muslim will directly corrolate to who you were as a Christian, Buddhist, Jew, etc.... but for most people..... when you enter into Islam, you become a totally new person
**just my opinion

Depends on who's doing the preaching! :)
For the most part, no. But it is a chance to learn from another.
I enjoy learning about others views. We have more in common than we think.

I think that, having themselves been saved, they need to take upon themselves to preach the Word of God. There is nothing wrong with that. Even non-religious people with a conviction are bound to preach their message (There is no God; sex is good for you; don't heed calls for self-restraint but indulge in all pleasures offered; apples are good for your health, smoking can kill you etc)

Honestly, (no offense), but the only real contact through this forum I had with a muslim was last night...I answered a question of his....(I didn't know he was muslim...it wouldn't matter)...and he kept emailing me with links on how the Bible was full of error, and muhammed was God...etc. I asked him politely to stop....and when he continued, I finally had to threaten to report him for harassment!
