In emphysema, lung tissue and the tiny air sacs (alveoli) at the end of the airways in the lungs are damaged. When these tiny air sacs are damaged, air is trapped in the lungs. This leads to shortness of breath.
Diagnosis is by physical examination.

I think you mean "emphysema". If you spell it right, you should be able to look it up on health web sites. Try the Canadian Lung Association website. Lots of info on emphysema.
