You still have feelings for him, so better get him another chance and see and review your relationship on the basis of his attitude.

To tell you the truth, the feelings never fade away until you find a new guy. It always hurts. Later, you may choose not to think about them and it becomes easier with time. This is a good time to note down all the good and bad moments you had with your ex. Perhaps that will help you to sort your feelings and let you grieve some of the things that are most hurtful. Once you grieve over them and cry quietly or scream for them, you somehow learn how to get over them. Do not bottle up the feelings. Then take a long shower, dress up and go out. Tell yourself that you will not let him or his memories dominate your life anymore, especially not after he has already hurt you so much.

Valid reason? The ex cheated, so there must have been a reason.
Find someone else, or enjoy yourself and the things you like to do to help you forget about him.

If he's an X then what is the point? Trying to control what isn't is impossible. If this person is truly your X then why do you want to control anything in regards to this person. Move on......Get over it and put the PAST behind you!

the only thing you can do id move on...it doesn't have to be quick...i know there's still a part in you who loves him and you should just ask him what happened---the whole story...and after he had explained, you can leave him alone and live on to your life...
