Correcting your credit report is fairly simple. When you got your credit report, they gave you the address to send the dispute to. If not, look at the above answers for the address.
If the information you are disputing regards a debt, or anything that may have a negative impact on your score, then you MUST send the dispute by certified mail.
This is VERY important. In the event that they do not correct this information, you need the proof that they were notified before you can proceed with any legal or punitive action.

Equifax and TransUnion are the two extraordinarily sensible approximately removing any information that's no longer modern-day. If I undergo in recommendations precise, TransUnion will do it with basically a telephone call, yet i prefer to propose a letter besides for checklist conserving applications. Experian does not prefer to delete ANY historic information (previous addresses, telephone numbers, and so on. and so on.). If the motor vehicle salesman became into asserting it would desire to help your FICO score, I disagree as your earnings isn't shown on your credit rfile. If he became into asserting it would practice you ways to with a private loan from HIM, then he might desire to be waiting to settle for a W-2 from final year or your final 2-3 paystubs and evidence of modern-day earnings.

I read an article that says that TransUnion admitted in court that nearly 50% of their files contained errors.
Thats crazy because they currently hold 300 million files.
If you have negative information on your credit reports, you must dispute it. Calling will not do the trick. You must submit them in writing.
Here are the addresses if you want to do it yourself:

Atlanta, GA 30374
800-685-1111

They did a good job for me.
Also if you want to use a good sample letter by disputing the inaccurate information yourself, copy and paste this one into a word doc and fill in the blanks:

By the provisions of 15 USC section 1681i of the Fair Credit Reporting Act of 1970, I demand that the following items be re-verified and deleted from my record.

you are entitled to one free credit report per year...look on clark howard's website he provides info on free credit reports, how to correct them and what you need to do to protect yourself from identity theft. i think the website is clarkhoward.com but not sure.if you do a websearch for his name you will find it. you also can challenge anything you see as wrong on there, and you report it through each individual agency. there is a link on their webpages that allows you to dispute a claim or information. just follow the links.

I would send them each a letter of each item that needs to be corrected. It might take a while because they are very busy but I would send it certified and get a receipt of them receiving it.

You need to call each of them and individually set it right. It is better to get it fixed.

You have to call each of them separately and work it out. I wouldn't worry about it, though, unless it's affecting you somehow.
