my shih tzu pup which was 1 last week has started cocking his leg and marking all over the house including his bed.
this is fairly recent behaviour, he has mixture of dry food am wet pm, constant bowl of water, door open so he can go outside when wants plus regular walks ( which most of the time spent on 3 legs )
can anyone help with tips to stop this.
thanks

A guess - he's decided that he is the Alpha male, the pack leader, basically GOD.
you need to impose your will on him a bit, which CAN be achieved with the proverbial stick, but the proverbial carrot, if you can figure out what his particular carrot is, has longer lasting effects.
At twelve months he thinks he's all grown up (physically he's almost right, but not mentally).
He's challenging YOU.
When training and socialising a puppy, a good tactic is to buy some sort of a "pull-toy" (this could be simply an old towel) and fight with him over it - let the puppy win just under half the time, so that he's got something to play for (a victoty, but not every time - he has to try).
In this case don't let him win EVER for as long as it takes to make him think - and adjust his behaviour to re-win your love and attention, which is all he really wants.
Dogs are not as stupid as american presidents.

something has changed in your home for him to start doing this. I have two males and neither have ever even had an accident in the house. If it is possible I would give him some time outs in the back yard and not let him in the house for alittle bit. I talk to my dogs like they were human and they seem to understand . I would tell your dog no you dont pee in the house and give him alittle swat and put him out for a few minutes. make sure you get the smells out of all the places where he has peed and get some of that dogbegone spray and spray in those spots so he wont be tempted to sniff and spray.

You may have a female in heat near your home. Is he fixed? Has a strange male dog recently moved close by and threatened his territory? If he is not fixed.... do so. Try to keep other dogs off of your property.

Take him to the vet pronto. He may have a bladder or kidney infection or diabetes. It certainly sounds like one of these and you MUST get it checked out ASAP.

you dog is displaying normal behaviour in a dominant way. have any other circumstances changed? dogs can smell chemicals humans release when their upset, in a pack if one is stressed they are all stressed, its a survival instinct. it probably/could be sexual behaviour. humans can't appreciate complex messages encoded in wee. it could be a sick ness.

MARKING or SPRAYING USUALLY MEANS:

THIS IS MINE,
IM SEXY,
LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MYSELF.
