Should we bring all our troops home from all over the globe, and with the money we save, make our country?

This question is for anyone, in any country who also thinks we are p!sssing in the wind, and getting no thanks for anything we do.

Lets put every Pound, Dollar, etc back into making our countries the best in the world.

And put two fingers up to all those who we have tried to help in the past, the same people who blow our troops up while their backs are turned.

With the money that we save, we can build more prisons, hospitals, have more police to sort crime.
Or to help with the crime problem, lets put money into projects for the young people of our country, give them things to do.

It's a nice idea, but practically speaking, it will take a lot more than bringing our men and women home to where they belong to make a difference to the UK.

I really don't think that the war in the Middle East is to blame for our troubles at home, the UK has been on a downward spiral for some time now and from what I see, this is caused by a total breakdown in family values.

But with regards to the troops, you are right, they get little thanks or recognition and they are not paid nearly enough! But whether they agree with decisions being made at higher levels, they are here to protect and serve their countries and I for one am grateful to the ones who choose to do this for people like me and the all of the ungrateful shites here.

It would be an interesting concept. I read an article written on about the same thing. If all countries pulled their entire militaries home, stopped all relief $$ and exporting natural resources like the billions of bushels of grain the US exports every year. Stopped selling arms outside of their countries. There countries like the UK and US would have to make major adjustments to internal economics but would fair quite well after the adjustment. The US would fare slightly better than the US due to greater natural resourses. About 3/4s of the world isn't able to support themselves without aid from other countries. Look at Russia, the US could always bring russia back to the tables during the peace talks by stopping grain shipments and Russia is/was considered a super power. How long would it be before civil war broke out all over the world. Nations going to war or selling off their assets (things like Russia selling off Nukes) to secure food for themselves. That is one the the things that worry the world about North Korea having a bad economy and nukes. I like the idea for a lot of reasons but..... end the end it would probably start WWIII.

Yes.

Making your country the best in today's world entails two things:-
1. Investment in industry and commerce, including the necessary scientitic and technological research and development, to be the leaders economically.
2. Efficient democratic government in the people's interest. This is vital not just because it is good in itself (which it is) but because a happy people is healthier and commits less crime, enabling the nation's resources to be invested in better things.
The armed forces of the best country will obviously be efficient, fit for purpose and have high morale.

Sending our troops to engage in conflicts far away damages the UK's reputation, costs money that could be better spent and destroys the country's internal morale. Finally, and not least, it prevents the armed forces from performing more essential tasks such as ensuring that the country's borders are secure.

I agree, bring them back, close all overseas bases. Also, let those other countries spend the millions to clean up any pollution that may have happened over the years. Our military spending during the cold war allowed all the welfare programs eurotrash like to brag about today. We should put all those troops along the borders and line the border 50yards deep with anti personel mines and tanglefoot.

We should not bring them back from all countries as they need to be trained in a lot of countries, to enable them to train to fight in all climates and conditions. This is why they are one of the best trained soldiers in the world. What I will say is bring our troops out of Iraq and let the Iraqis sort out their own problems, then the soldiers that return to the U.K. could be used to secure our own borders and security. There is no check on who is getting into our country, and anybody can just slip in by boat from the continent into any one of the small marinas that dot our country.

yes ,but the majority of the money is in the hands of the world banks and the people behind our western govenments (the new world order)and the puppets running them .the inner circle of the bush administration made mass amounts of money from 9/11 and the war all documented and on the record .what your saying i agree with , your hitting the subject matter behind all this that basically tells us that this could never happen because of these world wide powerful people being members of such secret societys as bohemian grove and the bilderberg groups .this subject is so vast and goes into so many fassets ,its unreal this doesnt just start in the last 10 years its the make up of our society it goes back centurys ,now these so called "elite" that see us as cattle and there plans of world domination is coming into fruition and if people dont wake up which millions have yet billions havent,we will be in a world wide version of nazi german in 2-5 years sounds crazy but sadly not watch this film gives you a tiny eye inside to what is happening.

If you are UK, I say yes. You have been spreading your troops around the globe too long (according to history). Since the East India trading Company is not really in business as much anymore, bring the boy's home, save some pounds, and that should make the best as you say. As for our troops they follow orders by their President whether we like it or not. He is a legally elected official and we support him. More though we support our men and women in the service. They are the "true heroes" and no money is ever going to be enough to make sure they are safe and protected. May God answer the prayers to bring them home. As for better Country we have no need. WE are the best and we have prov-en that over and over...

That surely would be nice... unfortunately people have other plans for us infidels. Just hope you got to watch the program presented on CNN on11/15.. would give you a bit of insight you have not faced yet but, will become quite evident in the near future. But is something Bush and Blaire have had to contend with for some time... in spite of the hateful words and actions which have been directed toward them. Words and actions being delivered by those so blinded, they have no idea of what is ahead of us.

Yes .........and YES !!!!!.
We have no business interfering in the running of other countries .
How would we feel if another country decided that it didnt like the way we ran our country .
OH !!!!! wait !!!!! didnt we just finish a war for just that reason , Hitler didnt like the way we were so he decided to take over .
So .... what are we doing in Iraq , Desert Storm is a nice romantic name but it was just interfering again .........but that was for oil ..right ??? and isnt the state of Iraq worse now that it was when we went in .
