Cigarettes DO have a best before date. The tobacco goes stale once it has been in contact with the air. They will last generally 1 year if kept in original plastic wrapping. All cigarettes sold in Australia have a 'best before' date and tobacco reps go to stores to exchange out of date packs.

They don't have a best before date as such, but if you keep them for a long time, the tobacco tends to dry out, which makes the taste unbelievably harsh. While they're still smokable, its tough going!
That said, the shelf life of cigarettes is quite long in any case, so buying a quantity sufficient to last, say, 2 years, shouldn't pose any real problem. You can extend their life by keeping them in a the equivalent of a humidor (as cigars and pipe tobacco are stored) with a constant humidity of around 65%, which will help prevent them drying out.

No, there is no freshness stamp on Marlboro's. You could buy a bunch and hang on to them, but no smoker would ever enjoy smoking ciggies that stale. Well, maybe if you put them in the freezer, but I know plenty of people that won't smoke those either LOL
As I recall from when I was a smoker, if they were more than a month old (since I bought them I mean) they tasted funny and stale and were unsmokable

i once found an old cig in my loft, the house was built in the sixtys and it has just been used as a storage place since, about 1995 or '96 i found it and smoked it, it was a bit dusty and didn't taste nice but the hit was there.

Cigarettes have never haven "best before" dates and if they get stale, you can always refresh them with Cabbage Leaves or Apple Slices

they dont have a best before date on them as the companies who manufacture them know they will be bought and used within a short space of time. however they do go stale as hell if you keep em a while. i found an unopened pack when i moved house (dunno how long they had been there but they werent there when i moved in so they were mine lol) and they were stale and nasty. :-(

They don't, you should smoke straight away, leave them to long and they will go dry and taste to strong and will be harsh on the ol' throat and lungs...

As long as the pack is still sealed, they're fine.

are cigarettes 'best' at any time!?
but in answer to your question if they don't have it on the packet then probably not, but i would think they would naturally deteriorate at some point, you couldn't keep them forever!
