Left it for a few weeks, no leaks but when removed it, you could see each cells and the contures of the battery. Is it some kind of electrolyses between the lime in the cement and the battery housing or what?

Reaction between the battery and traces of iron in the concrete. Electrolyte level may have been low already.

I would suspect some traces of acid left on the battery case reacted with the lime in the concrete to produce the effect you see. Nect time, put down some plastic under the battery.

The acid leechs into the cement. Don't store it on the concrete if you plan to keep it. Sitting a battery on concrete will discharge it and eventualy ruin it.
