I have 3 daughters and we all sleep in the same room. We live in a jonit family and have only one room to ourselves. Anyways, we have a bunk bed where my elder ones, age 6 and 3 sleep and the little one is put to the side besides us (age 2.5). Now, how do I get them to sleep.

They can lie there for 2 hrs doing nothing but not sleeping either. IThey even know their deadline of sleeping till 10:00 pm. They only sleep when I loose my temper and say such harsh words with a thundering voice. This has been the routine for the last couple of months.

Can anyone help us out.. coz now I am fedup of this routine. When we lie them to sleep, there is no TV or music or any other disattraction. The only noise in the room is the chatting of me and my wife. Well..we don't have any other place other than our room to be in harmony.

Is there any chance of moving? That's awful you all have to sleep in the same room. I feel bad for you. The kids needs their own rooms and so do you and your wife. The only thing I can think of to help is either waking them up earlier so they go to sleep at night earlier or reading to them until they fall asleep. Good luck.

Don't let them take a nap in the afternoon. For the little ones that might be hard. Just don't let them sleep over an hour. Maybe you should try putting them to bed about an hour before you and your wife go to bed. The two of you talking is probably keeping the children awake. They want to hear what's going on with you. Children are nosy. I know mine are.

We have 3 boys that share a room. I've noticed that on the nights when I read them a bedtime story they talk less with each other. Maybe you could try that too. Good Luck.

You need to establish your authority without yelling. Show them that you can be forceful and still calm. this going to be hard because you have already started a cycle of...

You all go to bed, the kids are up. you tell them to sleep, they still are up. You yell... NOW they go to sleep.

Stay calm and tell them to go to sleep, if they don't listen to you, tell them that if they do not sleep when YOU tell them to then they can't watch t.v. until whenever. Or come up with another punishment. And if they still do not listen punish them and follow threw with it.

Back in the day a good ol' fashion butt whippin would have done the trick but now a' days people have gotten soft.

it's gonna take some work but you can do it if you stick to it. human are creatures of habit. once you get them in the habit of listening to you. then they will start acting like your children instead of your equal.

You can have your time of harmony and chatting with your wife, or you can expect your kids to fall asleep. Not both. Not in the same room, anyway.

make them play outside the whole day/ afternoon....
in the evening they will be verytired and not think of anything anymore except sleeping......try it...or if you can do it... try reading them stories....... they will be sleeping soon plus the bonding you have as a family will be intensified....
