Honest conceit is better than false modesty.
WHY??
Because the name of the game in life is "repentance".
It is repentance that allows us to move forward in ANYTHING WE DO - even our maths problems; self-correcting is a form of repentance.
But even in maths, to make a change and improve, the very 1ST STEP TO IMPROVE ANYTHING IS RECOGNITION AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT!!
The first step to any repentance in life, is recognition followed by personal acknowledgement of [which includes 'owning'] your behaviour.
The person admitting or recognizing his conceit, or not trying to hide it, has achieved, at least, that very first step towards eventual proper repentance and improvement in life.

Neither. Both imply an ego. Being conceited is obvious concerning ego, false modesty is again egotistical. Self esteem implies a knowingness of one's ability without the conceit, therefore, the ego is a belief in one's ability without a knowingness of it.

If they really are beautiful or handsome, they need to know that it's a gift of God and to view it that way. You could be in a car accident tomorrow and your beauty could be taken away. That thought will keep you modest even if you think you are beautiful in your own eyes.
