if you really want her just go up to her and once youre there you have the feeling that you can't go back so just go and don't be shy she likes you so you can't stuff up

Somehow she has to know that you're shy. Tell the friend that told you that she likes you. Reason being is if you do not approach her in certain time period, she's going to lose interest. Be a Romeo and send her a poem (borrow someone else's if you can write your own).
Better yet, get the same friend to do the hook-up seeing how they are the messenger and cupid anyway.

Its tough to get out of that comfort zone,but the battle is halfway done! Lucky, Lucky! I suggest that you just approach her when she's alone(or with a few friends) and say hi or offer to walk with her or have lunch together. If its too much, take it step by step. Say hi, next time offer to walk with her, the next time ask her to lunch, as your comfortability with each other develops so will your drive to ask her out. Don't worry about it. Since she likes you too, she also probably feels shy, wouldn't you want to make her happy by asking her out? Best of luck!

if she really likes you it means she's just waiting for you to make the first move.believe me she'll lead you through the rest.so just take a deep breath and go talk to her.you don't need to talk about anything important,just things you both like.and before you know it you'll be together.
