I have loads (around 5000) old 35 mm slides i would like to scan. Scanning them 1-by-1 sounds like a lot of work. They are all in so called standard cassettes (holding 36 each that go direct to slide projector).

Has any company developed a loading machine that would take the whole tray at a time and scan tehm one by one (like projector shows them), if you know of such machine, let me know. If not I have to wait, my father has the same problem with 15000 slides.

All slide scanners on the market requires you to put the the slides into their special holders, as they are essentially high-res flatbed scanners.

As Corbis, the largest picture archive in the world, use this type of scanners to convert their slides, I guess you'll have to as well.

ScanWit did make a scanner to use with either slides or 35mm strips. I am not sure if they still do. They were very effective.
