It is polite to thank your GM for the increment.

Dear GM,

Thank you for the pay increment. I would continue to work hard and ensure that the company's objectives and targets are being met.

Thank you and best regards

You know, the thank you card is an utter waste of time... and trees. I think e-cards are great and they CAN be personalized. I just wish that there could be a way for e-cards to be permanently kept, instead of just being good for a few months. I think that etiquette needs to be changed to make allowances for the different lifestyles we are living today. At one time women were home all day and they had all the time in the world for such frivolities. Most women today have to work fulltime out and in the home and the last thing they have time for is to sit down and write a thank you letter. I'm going to be glad when those who insist on getting thank you cards die off just like the damn dinosaurs, and then there are never complaints about that again.

No ! if you deserve for the salary increment, otherwise then better write one "Thank You" message or card to your GM. Is a show of appreciation of his mistake and on yourself is like "boss carrier". Decide yourself ?
