Why is it irresponsible buddy? The products are legal and is available in the market freely, the existance of these products are handling the economy of the country bcs these products are paying high taxes. If you are talking about irresponsible, you shld blame the government not the stars.
Regarding promotions and advertising, it is solely concern at aiming to achieve high profit or high returns, at to achieve this successfully who is better than famous calebrities? you or me, we cannot attract people, but if example; Schumacher, he will surely attract many people.
Regarding their moral, well, i mean its not something which is bad or illegal...if it was bad then the government shld bann it....100% total stop of the product circulation.
I have read in India papers tht they recently banned smoking in movies, i simply think thts outrageous, movies are made for entartainment or knowledge, banning smoking simply is just hiding the real fact where it is actually available everywhere, why dont they just bann the industry? they will never do tht bcs they are getting alot back from these industries, just to make the government's image good they bann smoking in weird ways, same like in Australia too...
These celebrities who are in advertisements promoting the harmful products are aimed at a particular market, the market who wants these products....afterall, we shld realise tht its a product whether its good or bad, it main point is tht its LEGAL, whtever which is legal has every right to be promoted in every means there is to derive huge profits....There are clear warnings tht smoking and drinking are bad for health...whtelse shld they do? they already inform its bad and if people accept it then its not the celebrities problem to be moraleless....rite?
Regarding negative impact, well tht depends...i mean at the end of the day we shld realise tht like we work every single day for bread and butter, thts the celebrities way of bread and butter...they are paid highly....sure there will be a negative effect on the society but according to research this eefect is only effected at a small segment of the society not all....
You may not agree with anything i wrote above but tht depends on how you interprete it, if you are focusing on stars being bad at promoting bad products which will trigger bad influence to the society than you must realise tht these stars are themselves talking these products....
Checkout coca-cola in india, it was shut down bcs they found traces of some bad substance which are harmful to human beings, wht happen as a result? it re-opened, bcs the government knows tht if they bann coca cola again like in the 80s they will lose alot of FDI-foreign direct investments which are providing alot to the economy.....it just cant be done....
Soft drinks are dangerous to human beings, especially kids but they still promote it highly with famous celebrities....you never commented here, the effects of soft drinks are also great mate...do you know how many grams of sugar are there in a can of soft drink? its actually poison and triggers weird sickness, and at an average a kid will drink up to 3-5 cans of soft drink a day....celebrities are promoting people to drink to look cool, feel cool or just be like them,coooool.....
Who are to be blamed? its not the industry or celebrities mate, its the government, if they really care for the well being and health of its citizen not concerning about economy or profit then they should bann all harmful products....as long as its legal, there shdnt be any problems, people shld open their mind and accept this, they shdnt fire at starts...they shld question the government...

I find it sad that you honestly believe that celebrities have morals. They are selling their souls for money. What's so moral about that? If SRK is a chain smoker, then of course he's going to promote the ads for cigarette smoking. When you realize that celebrities will do anything for money, then you might finally realize that you shouldn't be following their example at all. I mean, look at Paris Hilton. That is a perfect one to show that celebrities are the last one's to look up to. Good luck.

Mr. Khan is a smoker who promotes smoking. At least he's not a hypocrite.

collect the statistics of the number of politicians who smoke. work out the percentage and you will be surprised. As for drinking a political who does not drink is a novice in politics.
