Mercury is very deadly. Causes a bunch of problems. Eating fish with high levels of mercury can cause birth defects. It can also get into your DNA. Yes it can cause death. If you have mercury poisoning go to the hospital there are things they can do to detox you

At one point mercury's toxicity was not known and was used to make hats stiff. That's where the term "mad hatter" came from. The mercury exposure would in fact make the hatter crazy.
Mercury can be vaporized. Mercury vapor is very lethal. Never break those florescent light bulbs. They contain mercury vapor. The human body cannot remove Mercury from the brain. Basically it interferes with the production of proteins necessary to the central nervous system and some other parts of your body. Never handle mercury. It can be absorbed through skin. Never go around anything that has been contaminated by mercury.
