So I was pulled over tonight, first time in like 10 years, and he asked me a bunch of questions, asked me if I've been drinking, which I haven't. Than he took my licence and registration and insurance card, and eventually gave it back to me. However, I did not get any ticket from him or any paper of any sort, so did I get a ticket, maybe he's gonna mail it to me or something, or did he let me of with a warning?

That's cool, I think he just thought I was drinking or something, cos he asked me about 10 times if I had been drinking anything, but he didn't want to give me a breathalizer test or anything. But thanks much for your answer.

He pulled me over cos I wasn't giving a signal when I was switching lanes.

Police stop people all the time for minor traffic violation with no intention of giving them a ticket. They use the minor traffic violation as probable cause to stop and contact you.

Once they have you stopped, they start checking for other more serious violations such as DWI, Driving While License Suspended, Odor of Drugs, Plain View Contraband, Etc. It also gives the Officer the opportunity to see who is in the vehicle and to see if they are wanted.

If the Officer did not give you a ticket at the scene, then I'm sure your were just warned. I can not speak for every state, but in Texas, we do not mail a ticket to you after the stop. We give it to you at the scene or not at all.

In Texas, we use minor violations to stop people and check their story out. We have a lot of drugs coming in from Mexico. If things don't add up, then we dig further. If everything seems to check out, then we send them on their way.

Remember the Oklahoma City Bomber was caught on a traffic stop. As for Gunny T's answer, I catch a wanted person, drugs, or a DWI in about 1 out of every 10-15 traffic stops. So it does work.

I dont see any difficulty in it. For the most area the court docket circumstances look the position they experience they have been dealt with extra harshly than individuals of the known public through officials who're extra vindictave in course of police. They don t say some thing about it being a interest perk yet to be common they probable cancontinual extra properly at severe speeds than maximum persons on the line and are a lot less of a threat. would you extremely be hit through a motor vehicle at 80 or an 18 wheeler at 70. supply me the motor vehicle anyday. for the most area the police will provide you with a caution when you're really rushing yet not utilizing like an fool to accompany it. Im guessing your indignation is probable as a results of having been ticketed for only that reason. and also you may also wanna look right into a p.c. decision project said as the eightieth percentile , I dare say they are extra secure doing a similar p.c. as absolutely everyone else on the line and not in any respect crawling alongside at ridiculous limits which have not some thing in without delay ahead with the universal motorized vehicle. It fairly yanks my chain even as idiots supply the police a problematic time as they are an user-friendly target. i dearly wish you get to bypass an stay in a u . s . without police and note how lengthy your pampered butt lasts

Cops pull as many people over as possible within their shift. It is a law enforcement policy to use ANY probable cause to allow them to stop you and check yor paperwork and criminal record (if any). In this manner they detect hundreds of thousands of administrative violations a day, each one worth hundreds of dollars in fines. If all else fails they will get you for no seatbelt.

The U.S. driving public pays more in nuisance traffic fines than the IRS collects in income tax, but you will never hear that on the evenoing news.

Once every thousand or so stops they actually apprehend a wanted criminal.

Why the hell are you complaining sounds like he let you off. They don't mail tickets that would me they would have to actually do some work. Take as a sign of luck because my question to you is why the hell don't the cops give out warnings anymore?

The question is why did he pull you over in the first place... Police can't pull you over for no reason at all...It's whats called probable cause... If he didn't issue you any type of ticket I would say your good to go...

The cop did not find any violation in you or he might have given you a chance. Anyway, wait for a while if there is any ticket.

<>More than likely you were pulled over as part of a "sobriety check" program. While these officers will stop, and even ticket for, traffic infractions, their main focus is drunk drivers. That is probably why you were not ticketed and why you were asked so many questions about drinking.

You got lucky he probably was looking for a suspect and thought it was you once he checked that you were clean he let you go with a warning, because he ddnt have a reason to give you a ticket.
