To think that ANY church would propose a bill of this nature only strengthens my resolve in remaining an atheist.

Get it straight. Those statements refer the C of E (Church of England), not the Roman Catholic Church. And that came from a few clergymen (mostly, the Bishop of Southwark), not from the average parishioner, who would probably be just as horrified by those statements as you were.

However, some people do stand by the Bishop's comments, or are at least attempting to clarify them:

"The Christian Medical Fellowship has also defended Bishop Butler’s submission, saying that two of the UK’s biggest newspapers had “confused the issue and wrongly implied that the Church of England supported euthanasia”.

“Let's be quite clear about this. The Church of England has not changed its position on euthanasia. It has always been opposed to euthanasia and still is,” said CMF General Secretary Dr Peter Saunders.

“The media hype surrounding the church's stance on this issue simply results from some broad sheet journalists failing to understand the clear distinction between euthanasia, which is the deliberate ending of someone's life, and the withdrawal of ineffective and burdensome treatment from a dying baby.”

I think that children have a right to die if they are deeply injured, it is not just about life but about quality of life and if a child cannot speak for themselves then it should be up to the parents and the doctors to make this decision. I don't necessarily think that the church has any right to make these decisions, after all God gave us free will to choose for ourselves, not to let the church choose for us.

I think all members of the catholic priesthood, and any person who promotes the insanity and evil of religion, whether it be christianity, Judaism, Islam or whatever should be left in the desert to die. Or at least until they wake up and realise how stucking fupid they have been for believing in religion in the first place. Once we get rid of religion there will be peace on this earth. but not before.

I think it's sick too! Next thing you know only so-called "perfect" babies will be born. Genetically modified mutant babies, that is. Despite the fact that all babies are born perfect, just the way God made them and wanted them. It seems we grow more flawed as humans with each passing day.

Wrong Chruch, that's the Church of England, the same one that first produced the KJV.

it's not passing a law, it's talking about the ethics of allowing Drs to allow a premie (22 week old gestation) who will obviously suffer because of its problems, be allowed to die rather than suffer

read about it before posting

That's just disgusting. Maybe we should reintroduce the Iron Maiden too.
