I'm having trouble in believing in God's existence..... Can you give me any advice or scriptures?

Hey, I totally understand what you're feeling, there, Anime......

The kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:21)......

All that understanding that you have can be spoken without moving the lips.... is within you..... it has been since you've taken your first breath...... it is called spirit.....

That is the image of God which you have......

Now, when you sleep, and you think about who you are, you will see yourself as the symbolic "house"...... (Gen 1:26) Because within it, is the spirit which was breathed into it for the body to exist........ You are that symbolic house.... what is inside of it is spiritual in nature.... and again, that is the image of God......

You will open your eyes and say, "I dreamt that I was inside of this house".......

when you say that, and I know you will, you can refer to that chapter in Genesis where the Lord God breathed into the body (house), the breath of life (spirit) and man BE came a living soul..... that part is how you became human......

But, that part that houses the spirit... the Scriptures likens the body as a temple:

1 Corinthians 6:19
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Now... close your eyes...... and dream a little dream..... and that place where you go is that place to which I speak where you and God communicate...........((Luke 17:21))

Firstly, you must deter-mind whether you believe in God or not.

How ?

Believe is a feeling, therefofe should you feel God is exist then it means you are the believer of God, do you?

If you are not then nothing else you could do but if yes then start looking and searching for what you belief. The same like if you feel the HEAT then you would look for the fire as FIRE is the source of the heat.

How ?

First step you must deny the God of Christian, the God of Muslim, The God of Hindu, The God of Buddhist and so on means that you freed your mind from being bias to any group or any religious and therefore you stand by your own to be as a good judge.

Second step you must first use your MIND to find a SIGN of the existence of God. For example, should the thief came into your house and steal your belonging then you report to police. The first thing police would take a STATEMENT from you then only they would inspect the scene to find SIGN of the existence of the thief in your house. You must do the same by observing the creation of God as you could only find the SIGN of existence of God in what were created by God.

Your MIND must collect a STATEMENT from God IE The book of God is the STATEMENT OF GOD and then compare the statement with the WORK God IE the world with CREATION and CREATURES. Therefore you must go through all books that was claim as books of God means that you must look in Torah and Injil, in Koran and Veda and so on. Once your MIND had identify and recognise the SIGN then only you are able to find God by using your heart..

How?

Just follow the teaching from the best book that had CONVINCED your mind about the existence of God.

Me, I'm now an atheist, after many years being seriously committed to Christianity.

I would suggest one book in particular:
"The Case for Christianity" by Colin Chapman.
It is the best single presentation I have come across that without misrepresenting (too badly) one viewpoint or another presents the questions of life and the possible answers, discussing both historical movements and their implications and the contributions of particular thinkers.

You are talking about believing and knowing God. You believe in something
when you do not know it. When you know it you do not need to believe. So you need to believe God first before you know Him. The first step is confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead (Rom 10:9,10). Once you have done this your spirit is made alive to God and God in the Person of the Holy Spirit comes and lives inside of you. To know the reality of God it is the Holy Spirit who will bear witness with your spirit that you are a child of God (Rom 8:16). The most tangible evidence is when you are baptised with the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues, This is evidence that you are saved and that the Holy Spirit is in you giving you utterance (Acts 10:44-48, 11:17,18) God is Spirit you know Him by your spirit and not by your natural mind.

If you are having trouble believing, why would scriptures sway you? You need to verify truth for yourself my friend, rather than believe what anyone tells you. That's their truth. Seek and you shall find. The truth is out there.

Science explains the how of the world, God explains the why. What point is there if there is no god or no reason to love your fellow man?

God is beauty seen in the eyes of those you love, in the world around you in the blue sky and the changing leaves on the trees. Science has no need for a brilliant pallete of colours but this is god's art and he has spread it all around the world for us to see. He has given us art and music and languages to express ourselves and that is something that to me proves God's existance.

It's always hard to believe in God because you can't actually hear or see God. Just pray everyday and read the bible. I had trouble believing in God but I joined a church and it really helped. Always believe in the Lord God and keep your faith.
