Why do people insist on handing out life jackets to the drowning when a ship is sinking? Same answer.

Listen, not all Christians do that, and they aren't forcing you to believe anything. Even God can't do that. They just want you to find God, or create a better relationship with Him, and avoid sin. They really just want to help you understand better, but sometimes our methods are a little too "strong" for nonbelievers.

And that's ok. Most Christians love God so much, they want others to do the same, and by feeling so fervently about something, we tend to be a little forceful. Sorry we seem that way sometimes. We can't leave each other alone. You see, our job as Christians, is to spread the good news, so that's an impossibility. I hope you become closer to God too. I'll pray for you.

I'm a christian and I hope my answer will help you understand. I agree totally that we tend to stuff our beliefs down your throats. I'm guilty of it myself. You see, we read in our Bible that everyone is separated from God - we're ALL sinners. But the Bible encourages us to "share" the good news that God has provided a way through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ for us to ALL get right with Him. Here's where it gets tough. In order to encourage others to join in the benefits of the good news of the Bible, we're stuck with pointing out that even though you may think you're a good person, we are ALL sinners and need a savior. That's where we offend people I think. We are not very tactful a lot of times and turn people off...I'm sorry about that.
But you see? We're kind of caught between 'the Rock' and a hard place. If you were one of us, and believed your Bible wanted you to help others find the way, how would you go about it in an unoffending manner? I'm open to suggestions. I sympathize with your question, but we really mean no harm.

Why do Secular Humanists want to stuff their beliefs down every one Else's throats so badly?

I'm sorry you have been made to feel that way.... don't know which Christian you are speaking of but, I know that you have not sat with or spoke with them all, so your question may not be all that fair. Since not all Christians try and convert people, some of us truly believe it's enough just to live our lives in a way pleasing to God which is with loving kindness for all and if that isn't enough to make you inquire about Christianity then so be it.... I don't believe you should force feed beliefs to anybody....but that's just my opinion. Only God can judge you......

Why do non-Christians frequently attempt to stuff down Christians' throats the ridiculous misperception that Christians attempt to stuff Christianity down other people's throats?

I don't seen any evidence of Christians stuffing any beliefs down others' throats.

If you are asking why Christians answer questions in the Religion & Spirituality section with answers that reflect faith in Christ as God's Son, it is because we tend to answer questions about God with truth about God.

If you dislike it so much, consider not seeking the attention of Christians with questions like this one. Or consider asking Christians to respectfully refrain from answering the questions you ask. You can do any of a number of things to rid your life of people who believe that Jesus is God's Son. One of the last things that will work is crying out loud about how you are assaulted by people who know Christ. There are bound to be numerous Christians who disagree with you, based on evidence.

Sharing God's Word is not akin to force-feeding. Normally when I determine that another person is entirely uninterested in hearing about Christ, I don't trouble them anymore. But if they're asking things because they want to know, you bet I'll answer them.

I have never engaged in open proselytizing. I don't go door to door bothering people about religion. I've never attempted to force anyone to embrace my own theological viewpoints. I am a Christian, and if you're not, that's your business. Why do people keep accusing us all of stuffing our beliefs down people's throats when that's so incredibly inaccurate? The people who do that are in the minority, and don't represent the majority of Christians.

Those types have a great passion for what they are doing. I like to call them the peaceful Jihadists. They need to realize that the suppossed word of god is available to all who desire it. Their bible tells them to go out on the highways and byways to spread the word. When these words were written most of the world was illiterate and I could understand that, but in this modern age and the information highway that is available to us, their efforts are mis-guided and borders on brain-washing.
