have the talk. if you cant be open, you arent ready. you need to discuss each others perceptions of marriage, of what roles you each expect the other to play (believe me, theres a difference between the role of girlfriend and wife, boyfriend and husband) you should discuss these things, honestly and deeply. you NEED to be blunt about it, this isnt a hinting, lightly entered thing. this is a deliberate, very thoughtfully entered thing. otherwise it will go badly. i know you want the romantic proposal, and that will come, but open communication needs to be the foundation of your relationship.

Guys don't take hints well, you might be best off being blunt.
If you really can't do that. Make comments about how happy a married couple look, or that its great someone just got engaged. When you see a ring, say how pretty it is. Start renting wedding movies (Greek Wedding, Wedding Singer etc.) But still don't be suprised if he doesn't get it.

You are not the issue, the male that you are with is the issue!
He does not need hints! He has convenient sex without responsibilities, too. he believes that you are not mature to make it on your own without him!
Put your panties on, leave all that is there, join the Air Force!
If you stay where you are, the tears will only be larger, the pain deeper and you will be older!
There is nothing for you where you are now at!

Tell him you're ready in your own subtle way or just be staight with him and ask...:"Honey, when do you want to get married, I know I am?"
If he runs for the hills....you didn't need him anyway.
If he cares he will answer you. Then he'll now that YOU'RE ready at least.
GOOD LUCK!

The only way is to bring it up to him. You have put that vibe out there so unless you initiate it you are screwed.

Be blunt about it. Seems to me like you both have been subtle for long enough.
