It varies widely from place to place. In many cities, there is no curfew at all. In cities where there is a youth curfew, it's usually 10pm or 11pm to 6am on school nights and 11pm or midnight to 6am on Friday and Saturday nights. There are often myriad exceptions to the curfew law, to protect the civil rights of young people.

You should check with your local government to determine the curfew law's provisions, if one exists at all. A good place to start is the city clerk's office. Ask the person who answers the phone to send you a copy of the curfew ordinance. If there is no curfew, you'll learn that then. If a curfew exists, you will get a copy in the mail (free or for a nominal fee), containing the full text of the law and any exceptions.

I am not presently aware of a statewide youth curfew for California.
