I've always had this paranoia since I've moved out on my own that there's some sick people out there who would break into a house drug someone and rape them. I don't even remember what gave me this idea. but I'm real paranoid about it. I changed the locks on my doors so the apartment complexes repair men won't have a key and I put extra locks on the windows. Is this good enough or Is there anything else I could do to add more security.

Well I've been drugged and raped before and it wasnt from a stranger sneaking in. It was from someone who I considered a friend of mine before that. So its not always strangers breaking in.

I dont think that will make you feel safer necessarly, but I think locking the doors and not giving out keys will be fine.

I've read that 80% of people who are sexually assaulted are assaulted by people they know. Just be careful who you invite over to your apartment. Also, I'm sure there are cases of people breaking into houses and raping strangers, but they probably aren't drugged. All of the cases I've heard of, the rapist wears a mask or something and threatens the person with a weapon. Drugging would be more humane, but unlikely unless it's someone you know. Try not to worry too much. If things are meant to happen, they are meant to happen and no amount of preparation can change that. Just live your life and hope for the best.

Like zgzig2, I think you have a problem that you may need to get help for. Of course people do break into houses and it is prudent to take reasonable precautions to try and prevent this.

I think it is not unusual for a person to feel anxious when they move out of home for the first time but I think it is unusual for a male to be worried about being raped, in this context. If a man were going to prison, then I think it would be understandable to fear that.

Your avatar shows you to be a male and your name is Mike so I have to assume you are a "male"...

Why do you fear someone will break in an rape you?? Unless you have a female there too, but you didn't mention that.

It's always wise to have good security on windows and doors so that it is good that you have that.

It is my opinion, that if someone was going to break in and do harm to you.. or ? they would not need drugs to get the job done, just a weapon, or over power you or ..?

Sounds like this is a really big issue for you to deal with...maybe seek some counselling to find the "root" of the problem..and then you can relax a little.

o.k. take care.

If it bothers you that much, have a security system installed because people have done what your scared of. You could get yourself a BIG house dog.
