When I visit a webpage with a WMV file embedded in it, IE crashes. For example www.wkyt.com

WMP also crashes when I try to play a WMV file stored on my drive.

I have several players that play WMV files, but it would seem that you have to use WMP to play files embedded in webpages.

Anyone know why it is doing this and how to fix it. Also, is there a way to have another player play the streaming WMV embedded in pages?

Thanks.

Tried that - no help.

Checking the registry and kissing the *** of Firefox does not seem to solve the problem.

I went to the website you mentioned but I used Firefox 2. I played a video and right clicked on it. There was a 2 line menu, settings and Adobe Flash player. So you might have to download that. Even then I would not guarantee it would work in IE. After all, we are talking M$ here. Everybody should have a decent browser. In Firefox it tells you when you have to install a plug in.
