I turned 21 this year and have been getting a taste of whats out there. Right now im looking at what some good spirits are. I had some Jack Daniels and really didnt find it all that pleasing...maybe its an aquired taste...but the smell + taste just didnt seem right.

Anyway...any other suggestions?

Both for taste wise and getting a nice buzz off of (im a big guy, 6'1" 300lbs)

Sailor Jerry is a close friend of mine. ;) Very good rum. And a high proof. Also for rum, try Captain Morgan Tattoo.

I don't like Jack much either, even with coke, but Seagram's Seven mixed with 7-Up is really good. Southern Comfort is better also, it's pretty sweet.

And, it isn't really cheap, but you can always get those mini bottles to taste what you like.

First of all, you probably shouldn't be drinking the alcohol straight if you are new to drinking. Try a cocktail first. For bourbons, you might try Jack and Coke (1 part jack to 2-3 parts coke over ice), Seven and Seven (Seagrams Seven and Seven Up). You might also try something like Captain Morgan's Rum and Coke. Or something tropical/fruity, like a pina colada (rum, pineapple, coconut), daquiri (various flavors), or margaritas. A Tom Collins is a nice gin cocktail without a strong alcohol taste. Most vodka cocktails should also be good, since vodka is odorless and tasteless.

For Bourbon try Makers Mark - very smooth

For just drinking to taste good and give a buzz try Sloe Gin fizz or Sloe Gin in a coke or with 7-Up or Ginger Ale

Also, Cherry Vodka: very good to make a Cherry Coke

Are you drinking the booze straight or mixed? If you don't like Jack, you may not like the bourbons, whiskeys, scotchses. You may want to try vodka, tequila, rum or cognac. Good luck!

Crown Royal - Canadian whiskey.
It's the smoothest blended whiskey you'll find - IMO.
There's also Bacardi 8 yr old rum or Jose Cuervo Gold tequila that will do the trick.
