Yes, the pictures look much better than the ones taken with a completely empty battery.
Its really hard to tell by looking at the dead LCD screen too.

The battery strength will not effect the quality of the pictures taken. The camera will simply shutdown when the battery is below the required threshold but all the pictures that it takes will be of the same quality.

Digital By its nature is the recording of binary data, ones and zeros. Your image is converted to binary data and moved to the buffer then your memory card for storage. If there is enough battery power this process is completed, but when there is little remaining power it will not alter the ones and zeros, it will just not record an image at all, or shut down completely depending on your camera.

Not at all. The only real way it could is if it died on the last shot you were taking as the battery died. It might just mean you don't get that last shot.
