Three years is a long time... I've heard tell of women who couldn't be faithful after three WEEKS...
Your father's religious observations are not what's at issue here... I'm sure he wants what is best for you... but quite frankly it is not his choice to make (unless of course, you're still under 18).
Why did your bf go to prison in the first place??? Is he a hardened criminal or was this a case of he was in the wrong place at the wrong time... did he just make a mistake/error in judgement???
if he's a good man... and is good to you... faithful to you... and doesn't abuse you (physically, emotionally, sexually, mentally)... and you two are still in love... then by all means, stick it out....
On the other hand... if he comes home and you find that while he was in, he decided to pitch (or catch) for the other team... you might want to rethink your relationship (at the very least, make sure he gets tested for diseases.. you can never be too careful.)

This is interesting.....1. what did he do ? 2. how old are you ?
You just waisted 3 years of your life. He needs to learn from his own mistakes. And you are thinking this guy is going to be
Prince Charming when he gets out ?...What do you love so much
about him ? What does he love so much about YOU ? He had
you writing him, and he kept you thinking everything is going to
be great once he gets out. Some people will drag you down....
some people will bring you up. What will it be ? Your father
sounds like a wise man, you need to listen to him. Good Luck.

Depends on what type of person the boyfriend is and why he went to jail. Anyone can make a mistake. HOWEVER, not everyone changes. So if he is the same person or worse, dump him and get a good God fearing man. And marry him before you have sex with him. That will make your daddy proud.

It's your decision, and you have the right to make it for yourself. Don't let your parents control your life, because you won't be happy
