When I was a child, I always slept barefoot and couldn't understand how people slept with socks on. I'm 21 now, and over the years, I've come to always sleep with them on (otherwise, my feet freeze and/or i wake up with a stuffy nose)...and now I don't understand how people DON'T sleep with any on (so used to it and it just feels more comfortable)!
Ha, but recently, a friend told me that one of his professors had told him at one time that it's actually unhealthy or unsafe or something like that...and can cause some type of problem (my friend couldn't remember the specific problem).
Is this true???

First of all, a podiatrist once told me that the best socks to wear are pure white cotton, not the extra-thick ones, and certainly not ones that are too tight. Also, if you wear socks around the clock, especially in the hot summer months, then the skin doesn't have a chance to "breathe" or dry out between and under the toes. This, in turn, would make your feet more prone to a skin breakdown. I, myself, prefer to sleep with no socks. I like the feel of the smooth, cool sheets under the covers.

My daughter is 6 months ancient and I've spotted the equal factor! We determined a couple of pairs which might be higher and don't go away marks just like the others, however then the heal of the sock is pulled method up onto her leg in order that the sock will keep on! I have no idea if it is quite bloodless in which you reside or no longer. We reside in FL so I attempt to simplest hold socks on her whilst she quite demands them, like whilst it is quite cold within the morning. At night time I placed her in a fuzzy pj set that has ft constructed into them. Maybe you might check out a type of to hold your son's ft hot at night time. Or a wearable blanket (Halo sleep sack) for additional warmness. Good success :)

There are some good reasons to wear socks to bed. In hospitals, some patients wear socks to prevent phlebitis, or swelling of the legs.
In your case (and mine) it keeps the tootsies warm. Go for it. No harm done. Worst that can happen is your feet will sweat. Just make sure the socks don't have a tight elastic resulting in a restriction of blood circulation to your feet.

Same thing happened to me. I use to hate the feeling of socks on my feet while in bed and I couldn't relax with them on. In my early 20s, my feet kept getting cold so I started keeping them on. I alternate now but I usually start out with them on. The only problem I've ever had is that I get elastic marks/sock pattern on my ankles. My socks really aren't tight but it sometimes happens anyway. I just try to put the really loose ones on at night. There's nothing 'dangerous' about having fabric covering your feet.

Can't think of any problems it could cause. I guess if you wore tight socks and had circulation problems or diabetes you could have some issues, but assuming you don't have those problems, go ahead and keep those tootsies warm! It probably means you are going to sleep better if that makes you comfortable to wear socks.

It is fine to wear socks as long as they don't cut off the circulation- for the bed ridden it is good to wear to help prevent skin breakdown= but they do need to check the feet daily= D

I dont think so. People slept without socks before they were invented and they were fine. I sleep without socks and im fine. Maybe after trying it with socks your feet became used to it and now freeze when you dont were them
