Well only a person who has honestly died can tell you this those who come back tell you things but obviously if they are still alive they did not die.
Now I remember long ago I stood very shortly after a relative of my now exhusbands died. They had said she died calmly in bed but since sometimes I cannot shut out things that are considered ESP I began to go somewhere very dark. And there was a struggle then all of a sudden came a big peaceful calm over whomever had been on the side of the bed and they were going away. At that time I realized they had begun to die had struggled against it then accepted it for some peaceful calming reason and were going somewhere else such that I quickly jumped off before I strongly experienced whatever that was.
Later that day at a restaurant the Uncle of my now exhusband confessed he had not found her dead in her bed but that he had found her on the floor next to the bed. He had told everyone that she had died peacefully in her bed so they would not get upset. It is obvious by this he had figured out she had struggled when she began dying to try to save herself such that she got up out of bed probably.
His mother, my ex's grandmother had a long history of diabetes and problems associated with diabetes. As she had a sweet tooth she probably made this problem worse. She died not at an extremely old age but not at an extremely young age either. She had worked hard all her life to raise three children as a war widow who never recieved any benefits so she was just worn out from all those years of demand and stress.
I have my own experiences but as I am alive I cannot tell you what death is like nor can I tell you what her death became or where she went because I chose to step away before my body was affected possibly dangerously by the experience. All I can say is the leaving of her body was so strong that I am sure if I had not realized in time what I was feeling I may have experienced it if it was her heart stopping or anything else and I figured it just was not my time to go.
I do know that I and a friend have experienced the same ghost visiting us even trying to communicate with us and we both decided without telling each other at the same time that the ghost had died some horrible violent death such that I do believe strongly that those who die violently often such by murder tend to walk the earth for those reasons.
Other than that I cannot tell you what happens but we can all refer to other books and sources that are considered to be reliable resources. I can tell you from these experiences the body and soul can be separated.

PLEASE read the following verses: 1 Peter 3:18-19 (pay special close attention to verse 19); 1 Peter 4:5-6 (Pay special close attention to verse 6). The body AND spirit combine to form the soul. All people will resurrect, meaning the spirit that left the body upon death will reunite with the body in the resurrection and never be separated again (called immortality). We will possess the same body as we have now, but instead it will be in a perfect state, just as Christ rose the third day and took up the same body that He had while on Earth. That's why Christs' body was later found "missing" from the tomb, because He resurrected with it and not with a different body. He is the first resurrection, all others, us, will follow the same pattern. While Christs' body was in the tomb for three days His spirit was in a place called the spirit world which is divided into two parts (paradise and spirit prison). According to the verses in 1 Peter this clearly explains that the gospel is preached to the dead (spirits in prison in the spirit world), whose body is without life until reunited with their spirit that never dies. After being in the spirit world, awaiting our resurrection, then comes the millenial, final judgement, then our final destination as resurrected beings.

When u make a statement, especially in this category, it's best if u back it up. The Bible says man became a living soul Genesis 2; 7. . It also calls the animals souls. I beleive a complete living thing is body and soul, but not two separate things. Check out Ecclesiastes 3; 19 - 21.

depending upon what you believe, the soul either goes to eternal bliss or a place of eternal regret and shame. Some folks believe that, there is a period of judgement during which the sould considers the mistakes of the former life and is reincarnated in order to learn the lessons that help to perfect it and continue to strive to reach the place of eternal bliss. It all depends on what you believe, but I thiink the bottom line is to prompt one to live the best possible life they can insofar as ethical and moral behavior and kindness and consideration for their fellow man.
Others believe that once life is over, that is it, it is over. But what would be the point of living if there was no reward or consequence to follow?

the body is left to rot, the soul is cast off, and the spirit moves forward. the souls is just the covering of the spirit while in human form and is cast off when the body is set aside at physical death.

After death, the soul enters a realm of peace and tranquilty (heaven) or total damnation (hell). Therefore, it is truly important for us to serve God and live a holy, peaceful, and good life on earth, so that when we die our soul will find everlasting rest.

Your 'soul' is you, living breathing. The word is translated from the Hebrew word NEPHESH which means ' that which breathes'.
The condition of the dead is found at Ecclesiastes 9; 5,6
. There is nothing , no part, spiritual or otherwise, that survives death.

Here is the Word of God as translated in English:
Chapter 56, The Event
83. Then why do ye not (intervene) when (the soul of the dying man) reaches the throat,-
84. And ye the while (sit) looking on,-
85. But We are nearer to him than ye, and yet see not,-
86. Then why do ye not,- If you are exempt from (future) account,-
87. Call back the soul, if ye are true (in the claim of independence)?
88. Thus, then, if he be of those Nearest to Allah,
89. (There is for him) Rest and Satisfaction, and a Garden of Delights.
90. And if he be of the Companions of the Right Hand,
91. (For him is the salutation), "Peace be unto thee", from the Companions of the Right Hand.
92. And if he be of those who treat (Truth) as Falsehood, who go wrong,
93. For him is Entertainment with Boiling Water.
94. And burning in Hell-Fire.
95. Verily, this is the Very Truth and Certainly.
96. So celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme.
Chapter 32 Prostration, Worship, Adoration
10. And they say: "What! when we lie, hidden and lost, in the earth, shall we indeed be in a Creation renewed? Nay, they deny the Meeting with their Lord.
11. Say: "The Angel of Death, put in charge of you, will (duly) take your souls: then shall ye be brought back to your Lord."
12. If only thou couldst see when the guilty ones will bend low their heads before their Lord, (saying:) "Our Lord! We have seen and we have heard: Now then send us back (to the world): we will work righteousness: for we do indeed (now) believe."
13. If We had so willed, We could certainly have brought every soul its true guidance: but the Word from Me will come true, "I will fill Hell with Jinns and men all together."
14. "Taste ye then - for ye forgot the Meeting of this Day of yours, and We too will forget you - taste ye the Penalty of Eternity for your (evil) deeds!"
15. Only those believe in Our Signs, who, when they are recited to them, fall down in adoration, and celebrate the praises of their Lord, nor are they (ever) puffed up with pride.
16. Their limbs do forsake their beds of sleep, the while they call on their Lord, in Fear and Hope: and they spend (in charity) out of the sustenance which We have bestowed on them.
17. Now no person knows what delights of the eye are kept hidden (in reserve) for them - as a reward for their (good) deeds.
Chapter 2 The Cow
154. And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah. "They are dead." Nay, they are living, though ye perceive (it) not.
Chapter 3. The Family Of 'Imran, The House Of 'Imran
169. Think not of those who are slain in Allah.s way as dead. Nay, they live, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord;

To Heaven or Hell of course. Have you taken a philosophy class? I'm guessing you have. If not, take one. You can spend hours figuring this out.
In my opinion, your soul goes to Heaven or Hell, but it's probably something that you should answer for yourself.
