My cousin had two maids of honor and it worked out great! They had a great time planning the bridal shower together. It was nice because all of the planning and work was not put on just one person.

The bride can have as many maids of honor as she would like...and the groom can have as many best men as he wants as well. I have done many weddings were the bride has had multiple maids of honor, or one maid and one matron. It all depends on the bride and how many people she wants at teh altar with her.
Also, take a look at what the maid of honor really does...do you want all that responsibility? They help with stuffing invites, plan the bachelorette party, mail the invites, send out thank you's, send out announcements, help put favors together, pass out programs (sometimes) and a whole slew of other things...think before accepting the job because it isn't a cheap one.

Hey one of my best friends just got married. The way she was talking was like I was going to be her maid of honor well she chose her cousin and I was well a little upset. it took some time to get over it but when the day came I gave the speech and did maid of honor duties so maybe that's what your friend has in mind,. Either way be happy for her and support her choice no matter what she decides.

No there is only one maid of honor but you can be a bride's maid and still help out. Usually the maid of honor and the best man share duties for the bride and groom and they are paired off down the aisle together as well.

when my friend got married she wanted her sister to be the maid of honor but since her sister got pregnant and didn't know if she'd even make it that left the position vacant. So the 3 remaining bridesmaids took up the duties...rough translation I took up the duties. Not having a specific maid of honor caused all sorts of problems for the wedding and there are still hard feelings about how things turned out.....try to suggest that she actually make the decision.

The two of you must be her very good friends and she values the both of you. I doubt if she would have two maid of honours. One of you could be a normal maid and still help out when it comes to choosing the brides maids clothes.

You do not want each. You do not technically even want one, however probably there is just one. You will have two regardless that in case you wish. I was once in three weddings this yr (adding my possess!). One had no maid of honor or matron of honor, simply three bridesmaids. I had a maid of honor and five bridesmaids. My great pal had me as her matron of honor and three bridesmaids. You can do it nevertheless you wish :)

Yes, she can have two maids of honor if she wants. She can also have a maid of honor and a matron of honor if one of you are married (the married gal would be the matron). Or, she can have a maid of honor and a very active bridesmaid.
