why is my cat tearing up the rubbish bins? everyday i come home and there is crap everywhere, there is no way she is hungry and looking for food, she is so well fed, she is such a placid cat its hard to imagine she just does it to be naughty. we pay her so much attention so she shouldnt be seeking that... im at my wits end, what do i do.

the cat is probably interested in something involving the trash can. even if the cat is well-fed, she may smell something in there that she wants to eat. or, she might find it more like a source of entertainment or something. i would suggest trying sprays that are meant to keep cats away from things (local pet shops) or just making it so the cat can't access the trash cans (ie putting them in cupboards with child-proof locks or finding less accessible cans).

It is hard as a person to imagine why cats find the smell of rubbish bins so attractive... but there are bits of all kinds of food and lord only knows what else in there. It's just a matter of curiosity.

Get a bin with a heavy lid, and if you ever see the cat going for it, spray him with a bit of water. He'll get the idea that it is off limits.

If the cat is stealing nutrients she shouldn't go away it out or enable the cat in. If she had any difficulty-loose experience she might want to understand you won't be able to administration what the cat does. also i imagine leaving dry nutrients out is a very good idea.

We mounted our bin several feet up our wall and she has no way to reach it now. I think it is their nature to forage. We got tired of cleaning up and hearing her in there digging around. Best of luck to you!!
