My church just recently made a decision to permanently cancel all Sunday school classes because the teachers were getting "too frustrated." I am/was a teacher and had absolutly no say in the matter. It skrikes me as strange and perhaps unbiblical. I don't understand why they would do it, it makes no sense to me. Has anyone ever experienced anything similar to this before? And even if you haven't what do you think about it?

It's a great way to lose families. Not sure if it's biblical or not but this is where some kids get their only teaching about God and a chance for kids to bring their non-Christian friends. Not a good idea in my eyes and if I had youngsters, I wouldn't attend a church that didn't have Sunday school.

wow. i'm so sorry to hear that this has happened to your church. i find it to be strange. understandable if they were replacing sunday school with something else that would incorporate small group time and digging deeper into God's word. to cancel bible study because of frustration - i just don't see where God could be in that. i too am a sunday school teacher and that would be strange to have my class canceled. your church must be going through some major conflict for this to happen. or maybe some incredible change that can be used to draw people closer to God. because your class was canceled doesn't make you any less of a teacher. perhaps you can use your gift to teach a bible study.

Are they also making a sign that says ICHABOD?

I have never heard of this except in churches that are soon to close their doors forever.

I as a Pastor and my wife as a Sunday school teacher would never allow this. Are they replacing it with some home study groups or the like?

Yes,I have and it was because my former pastor was jealous of my Husband and I high attendance by other members and visitors of our church and they wanted to hear us so he canceled it all together and wanted us all to just be taught by him and plus the youth, Needless to say that we don't go there no longer and that person has stop pasturing a church period. It is wrong especially when our youth need different teaching from adults. It's so sad!

Shalom

I taught Sunday school for three years and know a bit about it. I don't see how they can do that because its a requirement for confirmation. I also think it sounds absolutely ridiculous. You probably should talk to someone to find out what the deal is.

It seems to me that only a church that does not believe what the Bible teaches would cancel the teaching of the Bible. If you believe that the teachings are true then I guess you are now looking for a church that does believe it to be true also.. (sorry for your loss).

Oprah is what Jesus defined as 'the blind most appropriate the blind, and both shall fall into the trench" - Matthew 15:14 What a tragedy for a lady with such impression international wide to steer others into this wicked 'faith'. Jesus also informed us that "slender is the way, and few be that locate it......and vast is a thanks to destruction". How ordinary for those blinded to adhere to Oprah into destruction. and how very unhappy, to reject the very ordinary teachings of the Bible.

The devil is getting a foothold in your church. It is not biblically correct. Please pray for wisdom concerning this.
