My jaw pops a lot. I'd say this has happened like between 1-2 years?? Sometimes I can't even open my mouth all the way.
It's not painful. It's just REALLY annoying...
OHH... and I can't just open my mouth all the way at first. Even when I'm about to take a bite of my food, I have to move my jaw to the side to where it pops and THEN I can open my mouth to eat.
My dentist says this is normal... especially for someone who's had their wisdom teeth pulled out.
I don't believe my dentist because I only know one other person who has this problem. This is NOT a normal thing. When I tell people about this, they're like, "What??"
Does anybody else have this problem?
I'm starting to think it's TMJ.........
But the thing is... it doesn't hurt. It just pops constantly and can't open my mouth all the way.

Yeah. I've BEEN ignoring it. But now it's gotten to the point where I just hate living like this with my stupid jaw.
And nah, I don't grind my teeth.

I'm not a gum chewer.
And I've slept with other people around me before. They've never told me I grind my teeth. I've never done that kinda stuff lol.
So guys... it's safe to say I don't have bad any bad physical habits that would cause me to have this problem.
So stress really would cause this??

I know how you feel. i've never had any wisdom teeth pulled...but everytime I open my mouth more than half way it pops. pop pop pop pop etc. I can do it over and over and over and over again. It doesn't hurt, but it is annoying because it is loud and I just want to open my mouth like a normal person. I never asked if it was normal or not...but as long as it doesn't hurt i'm sure it's fine. Mine is so loud other people can hear it when i open my mouth up too far...if you find out what causes it let me know! (i don't go to dentists cuz i don't have insurance)

I had a friend who had this problem, actually I'm not sure, she might still have it (we don't see each other too often and I haven't asked her about it recently). The only thing was that it caused her pain, and she could barely eat. I remember being with her when she tried to eat and she ate extra slowly with pain in her face. She's also extremely skinny because of it. She ended up getting braces so I'm not sure if that helped her in any way. She told me her jaw was in need of being medically fixed. Maybe that is what you need. You should check with a doctor for another opinion, because that seems like an inconvenience the way you are eating. Or go to another dentist because he doesn't seem to be listening to your problem.

I have the exact same thing. I suggest making an appointment to speak w/ an oral surgeon. I, myself, saw one and had an MRI done on my jaw. It actually revealed that my jaw was slipping back and forth over the disk in its socket, rather than the disk moving along with it, and the stress often prevented my jaw from opening all the way.
There are a few different options for TMJ, one of which is jaw surgery, but considering how little you seem to have the locking problem, a doctor will probably just recommend applying heat to the joint to relax the muscles, or taking an anti-inflammatory like ibuprophen or aspirin.
Just the same, I would get to an oral surgeon asap just to insure everything is okay.
Best of luck.

Sounds like classic TMJ to me. My jaw pops, by my ear when I chew, sometimes when I yawn it won't close lol. It was great, at my old job we'd be sitting having our shift briefing, I'd do that and annoy everyone in the room lol. Once I thought I had an ear infection, was hurting in that area, dr. said it was from the TMJ, and if it kept up I'd have to go in and have it fixed. Said it would be painful to have it fixed. Do you chew a lot of gum? From what I understand, that's usually the main problem. Also, I believe people that grind or clench their teeth during sleep have this problem a lot as well.
EDIT: You may grind your teeth in your sleep :)

That is what i thought it was TMJ my mom had it. Hers did not hurt at first but then it really REALLY started to hurt after awile IT was so bad she had to go to the hospital bc her doctors office was closed and she could not stand it. Just bc it does no thurt does not mean it cant be TMJ i would make a doctor appt and get it checked out. Just to make sure. THERE is something WRONG and needs to be seen not being able to open your mouth is not good.
GOOD LUCK.

I get that too. I've heard it could be caused by stress, like grinding your teeth in your sleep which gets you jaw out of joint.
