Could anyone tell me the best ways to travel between the two countries? Also, what are the visa requirements to enter either country? I'd like to hear about any personal visits or experiences too! Thanks!

You can just walk across the border at MaiSai, and a couple of other places. But you only get a day pass.
When you return to Thailand, you get a 30 day pass.
To stay longer in Burma, you must apply for a visa first, from outside the country.

By air from Bangkok to Rangoon is the only safe way. The Thai/Burma border is a very sketchy place so the bus is not advisable.
