He was fine yesterday no signs of any cold or flu. I took my kids and myself to get a flu shot just yesterday. Could this be a side effect?

thats a normal reaction to the flu shot and in a small percentage of people, getting the flu shot actually causes them to have the flu but as long as she doesn't have any other flu like symptoms then just treat it as you would any other fever do you happen to know if it was the old version of the flu shot, or if it was the flu shot combo with both the usual flu strains as well as H1N1 strain? I've known grown men to get a 102 fever and sleep for almost 3 days straight after getting the H1N1 vaccine, so any less reaction from a child is lucky

the flu shot is like a small dose of the flu if it is the first shot more than likely the person will get a little sick then when the next years shot comes around the person should not have the same illness as he or she did the year prior.

the reason is simple...vaccines don't really help. infact they can be more dangerous than the flu! vaccines are assinuated live altered parts of the actual virus. (some are dead viruses).
nonetheless, when given a vaccine, the body has no time to figure out how to fight it. it skips three crucial steps that normally occure with a natural occuring kind of virus. it's basically causes your childs system to overload! if you were to have his blood drawn, both red and white cells will be through the roof! (higher than it would normally be had he got the actual flu!

the other thought is that your child has never had the certain kind of strain of flu the vaccine was to prevent, leaving him sick with the flu anyway.

i have a son with asthma....i will not get him the flu shot. he hardly ever gets the flu anyway.

(ask your doctor he will agree-with his head down in shame!)

yes its a side effect. expect him to get a flu too.. it happens, i wouldn't stress too much over it. If he gets very sick or stops eating and drinking then obviously take him to the doctors. but my kids got the flu like symptoms almost immediately after they got a flu shot. and it lasted for 3 weeks. but they haven't had one since

More than likely it is a side effect, as fever is common in children when they get any type of vaccinations. Give him tylenol for the fever and it should go away in a couple of days.

wow my son got on yesterday too they said to give him childrens motrin because he may run fever or may be sleepy. He was fine and active today. If your son isnt feeling better tomorrow he may need to go back to the dr's he may be allergic to the shot

it could be but I'm thinking that it would take longer than 24 hours to get a reaction..probably just an odd coincidence..2 yo's pick up bugs so easily...he was probably contagious yesterday without any symptoms at all...

This is a common reaction - especially if it's his first one.
If he's not back to normal by tomorrow - insist his pediatrician sees him tomorrow - just to make sure. I'm sure he'll be fine.
This is one of the VERY few times I'll say: God Bless you both!
