I would much much rather expel all the idiots, hangers-on and bigots.

You should be careful what you wish for, you never know you just might have some mexican in you and would end up being booted out too. Do even realize just how many mexicans US citizens there are? Over 30 % of the business owned in Washington DC are owned by Mexican US citizens. Since mexicans busted their asses in the hot sun helping to build this country why shouldnt they be allowed to be here. THere ancestors were here before any of ours were. Whats really amazing is its fine to be an american on welfare having babies everyother year paid for by medical and feed themselves with food stamps but to be a farm laborer who is willing to work in the hot sun bent over picking produce for 10 hours a day and live in a cardboard box in the corner of the field somewhere and only use public transportation and earn 20 dollars a day is so horrible. The whole problem with the illegal part could be solved with having the farm labor camps like they used to have back in the 70's and earlier. The laborers would stay in the camps and worked until the job was done then went back home. They couldnt bring thier familes and they could only leave the camps on certain days to do shopping. They had an on call nurse at the camps which prevented emergency room visits and food was served in a cafeteria there at the camp. They had beds to sleep in and roofs to cover thier heads and a laundry room to wash thier clothes. Hookers would visit the camps so all these men were very happy. They didnt bother anyone and the produce got picked at a cheap price and everyone was happy. But someone decided that these camps couldnt be anymore and what happened. Illegals crossing the border and the need for more border patrol and so on and so on. There is a simple solution to the problem but have you asked your self why the gov. wont go with the simple solution? If the illegal alien problem wasnt a problem any more where would all these border patrol agents get a job at that pays them 40,000 a year to start? I like many many americans citizens live across the border in Mexico and noone says a word. The people are way more friendly and no one cares if you have anything or dont have anything.
I dont recall God handing out property rights to land. In the begining people were free to go where they choose until greed set in.

Of course they should be allowed in. Unless, you're talking about illegal immigrants. In that case no. But our government has no enforcement regularly posted at the borders. They concider this a low priority. Maybe they're diggin the cheap labor, which by the way, isn't so cheap all the time since laborors have gotten unified. They have Reps and lawyers fighting for fair wages. They don't always or, in some cases, never pay taxes. Alot of the money goes back to Mexico. They are entitled to free medical care in which the American tax payers pick up the tab. I'm born and raised in the states. Worked 26 years mostly in auto industry until I got a spine problem. Now I have no medical and I sit home in severe pain all day. Do you think there is a problem?

I think you are forgetting that there are alot of states, California, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, etc. that were part of Mexico at one time. We stole part of their country from them for pennies on the dollar, now look at what we have? The problem isn't the people of Mexican decent, it's with the Mexican Government. Why isn't their government doing something to make these people want to stay in their own country? Most illegals aren't hurting anyone. They are trying to make a buck and help out their families. I would do the same too. You can't be blaming these people. The statue of Liberty says "give me your poor......" they are the poor, and you want to hurt them even more. Shame on you and others who think like you. Unless you are of Native American decent, your family was also an illegal at one time or another.

Anyone should be allowed in the united states provided it suits the needs of the united states and does not undermine the established parameters such as legality and quotas (needed to ensure diversity)

Your screen name is smart american, I will assume you do not want Mexicans here..?
If we would change immigration procedures we would not be in the situation of amnesty for illegals. For those who are already here, give them citizenship for the sake of humanity...and fix what is broken. We are nothing more than a fabrication of innocence that which could not possibly be further tainted by Mexicans...
Work visas are a great idea if handled properly for those who only want to work here.

I think there needs to be the establishment of work visas. Mexico, at the end of the day, is a foreign country. No work visa, no work.
I also think that Mexico and the United States can and should be good partners on the border, and that the US/Mexico border fence should be built.

If they follow the proper procedures, they are welcome to enter. It is the illegal immigrants that must be removed.
I'm reading your question and taking it to the bare bones. Mexicans I consider Mexican nationals, and not Hispaics in general, and not being allowed in the U.S., I'm reading that has not being allowed to enter at all.

Do you think we would have produce in the supermarkets if the migrant workers weren't here?
I think that they enrich our culture.
Instead of building a fence to keep people out the US should spend the millions helping to build industry in Mexico to help the people earn enough to support their families. They are our neighbors after all.
Think of how many billions the US spends each month on war, killing and destroying lives. Why can't we spend fraction of that making a better life for our neighbors?
