i download a torrent file but how do i use it or how do i open it ? ...

Open it with any bittorrent client, some of which are listed below:

Official BitTorrent Client (bittorrent.com)
ABC (Another Bittorrent Client)
uTorrent (actually that u is Greek letter "mu")
Azeurus
BitPump (analogx.com)
BitComet / BitLord (the latter is BitComet with a search engine)
Shareaza (hybrid P2P client and BT client)

You need to download a BitTorrent client. I use Azureus myself, its free and easy
