Nope, I would definitely advise against it. We were drilled over and over again in beauty school that you must grow out and cut off the metallic-dyed hair. The chemicals in regular dyes/bleaches react with those in metallic dyes to form an extremely caustic compound that can fry your hair ***no matter how long it's been since you dyed it***. Sorry, I know it's not what you wanted to hear, but it's the stone-cold truth...

You can highlight over a metallic dye, but only with a low ammonia bleach and be careful not to over process it. A good clarifying treatment followed by a protein conditioning treatment beforehand will help.

It depends how long ago you dye your hair. Give a good two months before you aplly the new dye. Also it is good to stay with the same brand. Do not switch brands. Hire a professional to do.

No Way! There is a chemical reaction that occurs. You need to listen to professionals. Why would they lie? To not make money? Nope, b/c you're hair really would be so damaged it would break off.
