According to Blondie it's best to do it in the USA but that's beside the point. Don't know why but I have a feeling you would definitely know this already... My theory (and possibly the most logical one) is that a) I'm sure people have been 'French kissing' for eons but named it this somewhere in the early 19th/late 18th century b) They named it 'French kissing' because the French are seen as being a notriously randy and sensual people - the same as the 'French letter' (condom). This is a cultural stereotype and not true in all cases - but is in some...and that's the last I'll say on the topic. ; )

French kissing actually began with the french fry. The fry was excellent and it was fought over by a man and a woman. Well both began eating it at the same time from both ends and when they got to the middle they tried to get what was left from the others mouth. At that point, they both realized that the fry really sucked but discovered that trying to get all they could from each others mouth was a hell of a lot more fun and tasty than the fry itself. Of course, since it was a french fry they were originally going after, it was only logical that they would call it french kissing. They both had a lot of fun explaining and demonstrating the new french kissing to all their friends and willing strangers. The rest is history.

No one really knows how many societies french kissed before Americans discovered it but we DID learn it from the French though. Hence, it's name.
It has probably existed since time began, realisticly.

No. It was probably perfected by Madonna, whom I've been a huge fan of for years and it has never affected me at all in any negative way. Thanks to her, I am pro-choice, concerned about HIV/AIDS, supportive of women's rights, a fan of ballet, a believer in hard work and talent, and completely accepting of gay people.
