Loch Dhu. Pronounced Lock Doo. It's a single malt scotch which is very dark, almost chocolate in colour, as opposed to the amber colour of most scotches. It's as smooth as a baby's bum. I was in St. Andrews a little while back and went into a pub which had about 150-200 different types of scotch. I was so excited I had a glass of orange juice.

Love Scotch, but what is your preferred style? Are you a fan of really, smoky, pete moss or more herby with hints of sweet?

Here a few faves:

Dalwhinnie
Talisker
Compass Monster and Eluthera
really, really smoky and intense, Laphraig
Glenmorangie, sherry cask

Blended or single malt? That is the question. Single malts tend to have a bite to them, and blended scotch tends to be smoother. For single malt I would have to say either the Chivas 12. It won't dent you pocket too much, but if you want blended just go to the liquor store and scope the bottom shelf.

Don't know. But is probably Johnnie Walker BLUE. My favorite is the much more reasonably priced Johnnie Walker Black.
