Suppose I declare myself the final prophet, and all final prophets before me were false or corrupted. Jesus was supposed to be the final Prophet, but God changed his mind and made Muhammad the final one. Which means he can change his mind again, and make me the final Prophet, which he did.

Next, I invent a religion which instructs followers that God hates all humans but the true believers (my new religion). God has manadated that we purge the world of unbelievers, irrespective of whether they have had a reasonable opportunity to learn his new religion (sounds familiar, I know).

Ok, so I make a book and declare it the word of God. I even have fancy designs on the book and declare that God doesnt really want us to worry about the substance of the book, but merely recite it, yell it out.

You must respect my religion right? No? Not enough followers you say? Ah, we merely quibble over the stage of my religions growth.

Actually it seems that the only universally held religious doctrine today is "All religions should be respected". And according to that doctrine, I am a heretic - hope I won't be burned at stake for it!
There is no reason why all religions or all beliefs must be respected.
You have to earn my respect. And I have to earn yours. These things don't come for free.

If you can heal others with a touch, raise the dead, confound the wise men, tell the future, understand the past, love everyone, never sin, bleed from every pore while you pay for the sins of all humankind, suffer death and come alive in three days, and return to earth when evil peaks and restore peace, THEN maybe I'd have some respect for you. But you can only make fun of such things because you have no spiritual understanding. So no, I'm afraid I would not respect you or your religion. So sorry!

All people deserve respect, but not all ideas do. I don’t respect the idea that a man was born of a virgin, walked on water and rose from the dead. I don’t respect the idea that we should follow a "Prophet" who at the age of 53 had sex with a nine-year old girl, and ordered the murder of whole villages of Jews because they wouldn’t follow him. Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions.– Thomas Jefferson

It would be classified as cultish, for your views would be quite extremist. as said before, your cult can only be recognised as a religion, only if it was wide spread enough.

Personally, I won't be bothered by your upstart religion, unless you start some kind of Holy Crusade, which will be against the common good.

As a Christian, is certainly NOT experienced my religion deserving respect. Critisize Islam? Heaven forbid? Critisize Christianity? Everyone joins in.

But ultimately, religion is worthless. Any religion, even 'Christian Religion', can't bring you to God. You need a relationship with God, and this is not religion. Visit http://www.notreligion.com/ to see what I mean.

It can be done...

...if you're charming and forceful enough as a leader.

But you shouldn't expect my respect. However, I never made the statement that all religious beliefs should be respected, so this question probably wasn't directed at me.

Hey :)

I like your question. It's challenging. I must admit, I have no answer for it, but I'll give my view on your idea. I think we live in a certain age of time where it will be very hard for such a thing to occur, and for people to believe what you claim. It's tough.

The only problem I have is that a perfect god would not change his mind...that would admit error.

But sure, I'd respect the heck outta your religion and your 15 dudes who followed it!

LOL good challenging question, seriously

Wow who would have thought to meet a new prophet on Yahoo Answers!

Let me ask you this, you love bashing Islam don't you? What do you know about it? Have you read the whole Quran, have you read all the prophets sayings? I am sure you don't even know 1% of it. FYI Al-Qaeda does not represent Islam.
