not to be mean to christianity but i am a logical person and i dont believe in god simply because science and the Darwin theory and all that has a bunch of evidence backing it up. but still can someone christian tell me why they believe in god? im just curious, im not trying to insult religion or anything. oh and the big bang is a proven theory, so dont start with that. oh and also, if there is a god, and we are all "sinners" why doesnt he just destroy us? and i find it hard to believe that ghandi or einstein went to hell, if there is a hell.

I know this is long, but it's worth reading.

I believe in God because I've found peace in Him.
When I have a bad day at school, or if my parents get mad at me, all I have to do is read my Bible. Instant spirit boost. It reminds me that God is always there right beside me, no matter what I'm going through (and that he went there before me and knew everything that was going to happen, and that nothing happens that he doesn't already have worked out). It's a faith thing.
To answer your last two questions: Indeed, we are all sinners. It had to be that way. God wants us to have a relationship with him. That relationship is called "fellowship", and you can't have real fellowship with someone unless they genuinely want to. It wouldn't be a true relationship if, say, you tried to be friends with a computer; the computer just does whatever you tell it to do, it doesn't have a real choice of whether to stay with you or go somewhere else, so its friendship really means nothing. So, in order for God to have true fellowship with His creations, there had to be something standing between humans and God, so that only people who genuinely wanted God in their lives had a relationship with Him. That's why there had to be sin, and all of us had to be sinners, so that we could opt to have fellowship with God. And, if He destroyed us, there still wouldn't be fellowship. You just have to realize, God has already won. He won when He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for all the sins of mankind, so we can have a relationship with Him. He loves you and He wants you, and He's already forgiven you; all you have to do is accept it.
To answer your last question: I'm not sure about either Ghandi's or Einstein's faith in God or their salvation, so I don't know if they went to heaven or hell. But I do know this: Jesus said "No one comes to the Father except through me." So if Jesus wasn't their personal Saviour and they had not placed their trust in Him, they did not go to heaven. For the Bible says that no good deeds on this Earth are enough to "buy" your way into heaven, even if you're incredibly smart or act on integrity all the time, you still need atonement for your sins through Jesus Christ.

First, the Big Bang theory and evolution of man from apes has not been proven, that's why they are called theories, not facts.
We are all sinners because we disobey God, do things He has told us is wrong to do. He doesn't destroy us because He loves us all. Kinda like the reason I don't destroy my son that is totally living in way that is completely against everything I tried to teach him. Our children have freewill to love us or not, but that doesn't change how I love them. It's unconditional. But there are some things that I won't tolerate in my home now that I know they know better. They must live somewhere else to live like that.
I believe in God because I look at the world and how it is put together and I look at the human body and how it is so complicated and in such a delicate balance, and I know that something beyond all mankind's comprehension had to create it. And if I believe that, then the rest of it falls into place. If a creator can give life to humans, he can surely extend the spirit of
that human beyond physical death.
Good works do not get you into heaven. It is the love for God that inspires the love behind the good works.
And when I read the New Testament and realized I was a sinner, I repented, asked forgiveness, and asked Jesus to save me, I recognized it as the truth and the way. It filled the empty part inside of me that could never be satisfied any other way.

If God werent real I'd be dead or in jail...in a crack house at best.

I know God is real because He freed me from drug, porn, incest, rape, jail and fraud bondage. All at once.

I dont even have a record and my lawyer cant explain. Ive been free from all drugs and alcohol almost 3 years, my roommate 7. He shot 40-60 needles a day and wished himself dead every minute of every hour. His vein systems collpased, so ha had people stand on his back until a vein popped out in his neck, then he shoved a needle in there too.

We pary and beleive in the same God....we see others try to do this out of their own will, self help, prayer to other Gods with no success.

This is just 5% of why I believe.

Thanks for asking!

David

By the way, just cuz someone makes a theory doesnt make it right...it is just convenient. Much easier NOT to believe and do what you like, and Darwinism give people an excuse to do that.

Actually using the primitive knowledge you have on evolution its certainly a bold statement to say you dont believe in God because you feel science and evolution somehow prove the nonexistance of one. Bad move, I believe in evolution and I believe in God. No if ands or buts, to simply listen to these morons who think somehow evolution proves religion and God are irrelevant unfortunately use their own bias observation not to look at the entire picture.

Many religious people are ignorant to think evolution somehow threatens their God and many people who feel evolution somehow proves their point taht there is no God are both wrong.

They are both wrong, yes. Are they both on to something yes, there is a God and yes there is evolution. Unfortunately people cant get passed those two sides, its primitive thought and do not look objectively at both sides of the equation. There is a God, that I am sure. Evolution I am also pretty sure of. But to think the two dont co-exist or intertwine is ludicrous.

I pose this question to you....If atheist say science and evolution have proved that there is no need for God then they seem to conveniently forget one thing about their belief....Where in the existence of the world and in science more specifically, has anything ever evolved from nothing? Doesnt this go against science? Evolution? Their whole belief breaks down.

I started believing in God shortly after I started believing in the devil, a good dose of indiscriminate evil in your life might help you to reach the same conclusion. I also am a logical person, but once you've seen the level of darkness that can be reached in this world as I have, you will realise there is some very real supernatural stuff going on..also keep in mind there is as much evidence against as there is for, evolution...its up to you to weigh it..

God has revealed the truth to me and no one can ever take that away. When you enter into a relationship with the living God you come to know what the spiritual reality is. There is a verse that says 'draw near to God and He will draw near to you'. When tested this is true.

True christianity is not a religion - its a relationship with your creator. There are some christians who believe in evolution. I am not one of them. Thats not really the central issue. The central issue of christianity is Christ and whether or not an individual believes that He is who He said He was.

The reason why God doesn't as you put it 'just destroy us' is because He is a God of mercy and compassion and is allowing people time to turn to Him. Sin will be punished eventually if people choose to go it alone and don't accept what Jesus did for them on the cross. God is a good God and this means he is also a God of justice.

some peoples circomstances are diffrent than others. many are called few are chosen. I wonder why he doesnt prove his existance to every one. i would hope for some that he would so they didnt end up in pain for ever. But he doesnt he gives the freedom of choice to do good or bad. kind of a stomping ground a. but their is judgement in the end every one will pay account . also we reap what we sow. some to ever lasting glory some to eternal destruction . God nows the hearts and minds of all, their is nothing hiden. As far as creation versus evolution who says God didnt creat earth to evolve, dont be blind sided by Satan. God can cause to adapt or evolve lool at a human baby doesnt it evolve from a seed. Sorry i can go on and on.

chrisitianity is made up of religions. so basically, as long as you believe in god, you are a christian. it doesn't matter if you're a presbytarian or catholic... there are different reasons to why christians believe in god. some of the reasons are that they want to be saved, go to heaven... god doesn't destroy us all because he made a promise saying that he will never destroy mankind again (which can be seen as the rainbow) like before and jesus died to wash away our sins. also, who said that ghandi or einstein went to hell? i find that hard to believe like you.

you believe in darwin theory?so, you are originally an ape?wow!i'm not!

first of all, we were all born so fresh and free and without any sin.well, until we grew mature enough to make one, than only we became sinners if we made any.

if you're asking why christian is so influenced in the world, my baseless theory is that maybe because most of the christian offers money to help others in trouble. those in trouble need money in their life.

those who convert to islam in the other hand, fell in love for islam not for the money or assets or wealthiness, it's simply because of beauty and the truth about islam.

if you dont trust me, there's a blog of my friend, she's a convert to islam.she's writing about how she became a muslim, little by little.she fell for islam for the truth that islam brought, for every single answers that she's been looking for in other religion that still unanswered. well, until islam give her the most satisfying answer.

about the theory... darwin's theory will be a theory forever and its not yet proven... define theory first... it's just an idea from the mind... read first the genesis 1, especially image and likeness lines... and differentiate it with genesis 2(the myth of mankind... adam and eve...) The question is what will you accept...?
