A quote attributed to "Ma" Ferguson, the first female governor of Texas, in 1925. She was arguing against legislation requiring high school students to learn a foreign language before graduating.
just wanted to share a little humor with you guys. I laughed the first time I heard this. What do you think?

Foreign language???First of all Aramic was the language of the middle east at the time. But still....it is my opinion and belief that here in america the accepted language is English and no one should be forced to learn any thing other.

The excellent safety is a well offense. Remember the historical films, while a dad could trap a child smoking and lead them to pass at the back of the barn and smoke a complete carton? Perhaps we will have to simply ask Jesus bones questions till all of them run away screaming?

That is funny. What she is probably refering to though is that the King Jame's Bible is supposedly the only authorized, or Inspired by God, translation. In other words, she felt that Jesus chose the King's English to grant the only English translation that was allowed by God, and blessed by his spirit. Its too bad that this is also one of the worst translations out there...

Latin, Greek and Hebrew. I think HS students should be required to learn all three. The are the basis of most languages. My husband actually enjoys reading along in his Greek Bible at Sunday service. (he has a his bachelors in arts)

I love every word of it.
Can't make good sense of the others
I think it was translated just the way he wanted it too.
He knew all the time, man would change it.
I think that has happened in my lifetime,
sometimes I wonder what does that mean??
The back of the Book says don't add or take away from it

I think Ma had spent one day too many walking across North Texas in the Or (Hebrew for light). ANd may her blessed soul rest peacefully....... I wonder in what language she converses with G-d????

It's probably typical of a lot of people who don't research facts for themselves and just believe what they've always been taught about Bible translations. I think there are several good translations and several bad ones.
