Please talk to your child's doctor and/or call the county Health Department for written information on vaccinations . There are also some excellent videos avail....ask them about these. Do not get your infomation only from "hearsay" sources. People under 50 do not have the memories of the days when children got measles, polio, diptheria..and what the consequences were. So, please get well-researched, well-documented information. Go to webmd.com. enter Vaccinations, children...there are several good articles to read. It's great that you want to know more and do the right thing for your children.

I think your best bet is to speak with your doctor about your concerns. I know that many people feel the need of immunization for children may not be necessary in the modern world, but one only needs to look at the infant mortality rate in the poorer countries of the world to see how devastating childhood diseases like mumps, measles, rubella, and so on can be.
I remember my grandmother telling me how she lost many of her childhood friends in the years before the polio vaccine was discovered. Can you imagine how it would be if your child lost half her classmates because of such things nowadays?
Please learn the facts of the benefits of immunization. A flu shot isn't the same sort of idea as immunization against diseases that can kill children. If you are concerned about things like autism and other developmental problems being caused by immunizations, that is absolute misinformation. I'm sure you want the best for your kids, don't be afraid to ask questions and remember that you, your friends and the majority of those around you now were immunized as children and grew up to have healthy lives.

A flu shot is different from basic immunization shots.
Without immunization, your child is at risk of catching vaccine-preventable diseases like whooping cough, measles, diptheria, chickenpox.
He's more at risk of infecting others, including babies and those with compromised immune systems.
And if he's not immunized, he may be excluded from school or child care.
Vaccines are safe and effective. Yes, there have been some people who responded poorly to the vaccines; that occurs with any kind of medical treatment.
In my opinion, do it for the safety of your child and your community.
Here's a good website which addresses concerns about the vaccines:

My five-year-old son has not and will not receive any immunizations. You pretty much summed it up, "Something in my gut told me like the shot was only going to cause more problems than good." Look at the recent rises in Diabetes and Autism. What's causing these? I know a number of children who have never gotten vaccinated and they're fine. It's just a scam for doctors to get more $$$. Listen to your gut, not your mind...

Hi Stacy
Your right about the debate if we really need drugs/vaccines in our body. Ive done enough research through many years of learning how the body heals itself and I dont have anything positive to say about vaccines. I know quite a few people that have had major reactions and issues with vaccines/drugs. Here is a small article and the website info might scare you even more about vaccines. Im just trying to educate people and you'll do what's best for your family regardless.
Dr. Michael E Dym "Directly from human medical research, we have definitive proof of a linkage between polyvalent viral vaccines and inflammatory bowel disease, in particular the combination MMR vaccine and Crohn's disease and/or ulcerative colitis(the same thing?) in susceptible children. In his masterful research Andrew Wakefield, MD, a prominent British gastroenterologist, documented measles virus infection in the intestinal walls of nearly %100 of the autistic children he scoped and biopsied, who developed their disease within a short time after MMR vaccination. All of the normally developing children did not have any evidence of measles virus infection or histopathologic evidence of Crohn's or ulcerative colitis. I believe that he did actually document that the measles virus found in the intestinal walls of these autistic children who developed the disease was vaccine measles virus strain, which he showed via DNA analysis. And while Dr. Wakefield is not anti-vaccine, he has lectured that if the vaccines were given monovalently, that such problems had not been seen. Unfortunately, Dr. Wakefield was recently asked to resign from his position because the results of his research was unpopular. According to his work, Dr. Wakefield theorizes that the measles virus infection and subsequent pathology in the gut walls leads to a leaky-gut like syndrome causing absorption of encephelopathic toxins which directly affects the developing brains of susceptible children leading to autistic like symptoms."
Best of health to your family
Cheers

Welcome to the club. It is totally confusing. There is no good info either way. There are almost no double blind studies, the ones that do exist are small and have way to much bias in their funding. My 8 month old has no vax but I can't decide between delayed vax and no vax. But I do not believe vaxxing under 2 years of age is a good idea.
I have a very good article about the flu shot if you want I can e-mail it to you. I'm trying to get it up on my webpage but am having trouble.

I have 3 children and all of them have had their shots. As with any thing there are always side effects. But are you willing to play Russian roulette with their health, besides they will not be able to go to school or daycare without them. I always say better safe than sorry, but that is my opinion. I have studied Early Childhood and honestly I believe that the chances of anything happening are nothing compared to what can happen if you don't. I hope this helps some.

flu shots will not cause problems except a fever and mild tenderness to the site, which is minor side effect compared to hundreds of people die from influenza a year,to be a good protector of your children protect them by getting their vaccines how would you feel if they did get sick and you didhn't get them vaccinated? by not getting them vaccinated you are putting them at more risk,i live in canada and all children must be vaccinated to get into school.Vaccinate your children!
