Well as a shop owner and been in this business for 38 years, chyrs transmissions have got to be the best money maker I've ever seen, I thought ford was a good money maker, and now some Chevy's are coming in with reverse shells going bad, just had one with 54 K the woman was so upset, she wrote GM a very firm letter and had the way of saying it down to the T. I approved the letter, so will see. As far as Chyrs, is still in the lead in my book for poor transmission designs and A/C's. We, the auto repair business, call this problem,( time sensitive parts, made to not last in other words). Even the A/C evap cores, they don't last either, I could just about tell you on some cars when it's going, just by patterens.
Hey, it's a through a way USA now days. All I can do, is fix what's comes through the door.
However, I do let my customers know when to expect these break downs, and it does allow them time to prepare for future repairs. That's about all we can do.
Your break down was to quick, but I also don't know about treatment of the car either.
Not to make you feel bad, but make sure you understand your warranty completely from your repair shop.
So good luck, and your right, you have nothing to loose, except for time and hair, but get in line and have fun...
Sorry for the bad news, it's just the way it is...

I'd keep looking. Although it has very low miles for a 6 year old car, Jeep Cherokees are prone to electrical problems, not to mention they suck gas. Anyway it's worth around $8000. I wouldn't give my piece of crap 1995 S-10 pick-up for it. Like I said...keep looking.
