I honestly wouldn't think much of it because everyone calls me cute and I've been called cute my whole life. So if someone were to say "what's your name cutie?" I would think he was just asking my name. Of course, it depends on the tone of voice and how he is looking at you. If he is looking you up and down- he means it differently than if he is smiling and just looking you in the face.
