I agree with Steve, but I would also suggest that you try to find a condo or timeshare as they can be cheaper and more relaxed places - try redweek.com
You might also look around Poipu on the South Shore (Koloa). Make sure you go on a Blue Dolphin tour if you get a chance (located in Poipu area). We have had our best whale watching experiences with them. The Sheraton in the Poipu beach area is fairly nice. We have a timeshare in Princeville and get to Kauai a couple times a year.

Man. I've been to Kauai like twice, but I can't recall where we stayed at. But this is my one advice..
DO YOUR RESEARCH ON HOTELS. Thoroughly. I went with my band class to Kauai and the hotel we stayed at was completely horrible. And on some sites it's rated FOUR stars too. Just make sure you don't end up with a terrible hotel. Good luck!

Hyatt regency in Poipu is nice, high end hotel, Poipu Kai is nice also. There are lots of Vacation rentals you might want to look into on the Poipu side. Kapaa, or Princeville is nice to lots of places to stay, depends on what price range you looking at.

It depends on what you are planning. If it is a honeymoon and you want privacy, then I would recommend the north shore area, where there is less development, more secluded beaches, etc. within a shorter distance. If you want to be closer to more activities, shops, etc., then I would recommend the Lihue/Kapaa area (east shore).
just google kauai hotels for info on many places to stay, from cheap to first class.

For the entire Pali perspectives, stay in Princeville or Hanalei Bay. (TripAdvisor is a really reliable autonomous source that publishes many shopper comments and photographs.) For the "diverse section" you'll favor to pook at Poipu inns and inns. Poipu is the placement with the beaches. My wager would want to be 2-3 hundred and sixty 5 days-olds on the prompt are literally not allowed on helicopters (can't be strapped in properly), yet make sure on the cyber information superhighway with a agency like Harter Helicopters (I have flown with them 3 circumstances). I have seen young children taken on sunset dinner cruise journeys, in spite of the actual shown actuality that they known now to not have that lots relaxing on a shifting boat. my personal suggestion would want to be to bypass see the "Spouting Horn" on the point of Poipu. it fairly is alluring for the youngsters even on days even as the surf isn't too severe. My nicely-loved "off the overwhelmed course" places on Kauai are Ke'e coastline and Polehale coastline (at opposite aspects of the island). Ke'e is on the great of the line to the Na Pali course (ascertain you bypass to the VERY end, there is yet another, much better populated coastline earlier -- you realize you're on the great even as there is not some thing between you and the sea except the lifeguard tower). Parking would want to be complicated there some days, so evaluate having your husband drop off you and the toddler at street's end, then rigidity back to the nearest parking spot, to stay faraway from both having to hike with the kidlet and supplies. Polehale coastline is on the great of the White Sands Missile decision, and it would authentic be the most large and unused coastline contained contained in the global. It replaced into not achievable to discover, yet has now been made proper right into a state park, and the line continues to be undesirable, yet a minimum of of course marked. It now has an without delay previous to 10 human beings after I visit, really of 0 to three because it used to. the present version of the "ideal coaching handbook" to Kauai is smart to have. you'll bump into it on the airport there most of the time.
