my Speakers werent working so i went to device managers and noticed a big yellow question mark on Multimedia Audio Controler and on PCI Modem. I clicked on the Multi media controller and clicked reinstall Driver and selected the the Install the software automatically. it eventually poped up and said " Hardware cannot be Installed because the Wizard cannot find the necessary software. WHAT CA N I DO ABOUT THIS? Can I DOWNLOAD THE SOFTWARE FROM A WEBSITE?

You dont have to do that. If your Sound Card is OnBoard, Refers to your CD manual for your Motherboard. Find your Sound Card driver inside.

If your sound card are not from your mainboard, you should check the driver first from its vendor.

Uninstall and reinstall multimedia audio controller from device manager,right click device in device manager and select uninstall ,then click on action and select scan for hardware changes so windows will look for you device again and reinstall it ,then go to control panel/sounds and audio devices click on audio tab and check to make sure the audio device for sound play back is correct and not selected as your modem ,sometimes it is selected as a sound device incorrectly,

actually your sound card drivers are normally in your Mother board CD. so you need not install it all you have just do is insert your mother board CD in to the cdroM drive and go to devive manager and select the upgrade driver option and point the path to the CD rom.
