When I was working as an automotive tech, I had to take a few trips to the ER (they weren't that serious, just company policy to reduce liability). I had:
1) Several burns from hot oil
2) Several burns from battery acid
3) A sliced open my pinky finger on the underside of an old F-150 trying to loosen up an oil lug
4) I was drilling out a hole in a tire to do a flat repair, and the drill slipped out of the tire and drilled a nice little hole in the web of flesh between my thumb and index finger.
These were all stupid mistakes, but they do happen easily and quickly. Fumes can also be a problem, especially when working with diesels. Oh, and most garages can get to be very hot and very cold depending on the season and where you live.

Mainly back/lwr-spine injuries, wrong-boots also cause foot-problems, some heavy-lifting issues in the diesel/bus and truck areas. Hope this helps,Rob W.
