Well, for one thing, women who weren't virgins when they got married, in those days, could be killed. Mary was a Virgin when she became pregnant with Jesus. It was just the way things were done then. It tells, in ancient religious texts, how she told Joseph about the pregnancy, he had been visited by an angel, so he knew what was going on and played along. If he didn't mind, what do you care? Ever heard of artificial insemination? Could a virgin be artificially inseminated? So, there is an answer in basic human terms, if you need one.
Apart from that, the New Testament has several Mary's in it. I would like the chapter and verse in Matthew where it says that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was raped by a Roman soldier, if you don't mind.

Actually, the greek means a pure young woman and was used to describe a virgin. And there is not even a slight hint of Mary being raped. The only man ever mentioned in relation to Mary in the beginning of the gospels is Joseph. Roman soldiers aren't even mentioned once until after Jesus birth.

What kind of Bible do you have, is the author Anton Lavey?
Mary was a virgin until after Jesus was born then she and Joseph had several other children.
Tell us what chapter and verse it hints that Mary was raped by a Roman Soldier. You cannot tell us because you made it up in an attempt to make people mad. I will pray for you, that God opens your eyes to the truth.

isn't a woman who has not known a man a virgin? Read Matthew 1:18 & 25 and Luke 1 :27 plainly says that she was a virgin.-------Where in the book of Matthew does it hint that?
She had other children by Joseph after she had Jesus but at the time of His birth she Was a virgin.

People of God know that Mary was a virgin because the Word of God says that she was. I have never read in Matthew or anywhere in the Bible that Mary was raped. Do you mind me asking where you got that from? May God Bless

Because Mary said she was. She was confused when the angel told her she would have a child. Obviously a "young woman" can have a child so that would not have been confusing to Mary. In Luke 1:34 she responded to the angel, "How will this be, Mary asked the angel, since I am a virgin." She wasn't talking about a "young woman". She was saying she had never had sexual intercourse so how could she be pregnant.

You need to read the Bible all the way through. Mary was a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus. No HUMAN impregnanted her, the holy spirit did. Later on she had children with Joseph, thus not making her a virgin anylonger. People know she's not a virgin anymore, but she was when the Savior was born.

Why is it that you cannot accept that Mary was a virgin?
Oh, and FYI Joseph was a widow, may or may not have had other children before marrying Mary

WHAT?
Holy Mother Of God!
How do you explain this then?
Luke 1:34. And Mary said to the angel: How shall this be done, because I know not man?
1:35. And the angel answering, said to her: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
