Because men are ruled by their sexual urges, not their mental capacity. If they all had more than one wife they would have kids all over the place, would not be capable of supporting them all. There would be so many they couldn't keep track of them all and you wouldn't know if one you wanted to marry might be your own half-sibling. If the husband died no one would know who would get his social security. It wouldn't be right for a man to marry a woman and let her think she was the only one, then marry ten+ more.
Some sect's of the Mormons sometimes still practice it in obscure areas, but it is still illegal and even the true Mormon's don't practice it any more.

The Us Supreme court said ir was, however with increasing muslims and if they allowed a woman to have several husbands, the law just might be overturned under the Equal Protection clause!!
Please show me in the constitution where it says marriage is between a man and a woman?

Well it is an attempt to protect women from a guy who would marry one then want another (Almost every guy on earth). So he goes off and marries another. What does wife number one have to say about it?) Then another and another. Soon he has kids all over the place, and he can not support them. So the government would have to come to you and say we need more money to make sure these kids of his do not starve in the street. You would vote Republican and then they would starve in the streets. End of story!

Polygamy is illegal in the USA because the Supreme Court ruled that polygamy is illegal.
